Without going to look, I don't even know which type parking brake my 2011 Sierra has. Tells you how many times I have used the parking brake....

I think the only time I ever used a parking brake was to drive a 1970 Pontiac home when the brakes failed. Thank heavens it had the release handle,

I see how one would use a push to release type for that.
