On a side note. The new Escalade is over the top NICE LOOKING INSIDE. The layout, materials, and layout of everything is incredible. Just don't drive it. LoL.

Tobtek has made a very relevant observation, noting that the vehicle "booms" when it goes over even the smallest bump. I definitely observe the exact same thing. Like the smallest of bump excites whatever is then booming.

Another question for all. Is anyone observing this with the 2 wheel drive version, or is it just the 4 wheel drive versions. Wondering if there is any correlation there.

Is anyone having any of these problems with Suburbans? It is basically the same vehicle.

As recall from all the posts on this thread, problem exists on Chev, GMC, and Cadillac brands, as well as the short and long versions.

I do find the fact that the problem exists on both the short and long version to be very important information. With that in mind, I would expect that this is not a resonance issue. Why I say that is that I would further expect that the short and long versions to have different natural frequencies of the body and or frame, since the difference in length means a difference in mass and stiffness, which dictate the natural frequencies and mode shapes. If we are seeing the phenomenon in both lengths, then it may not be a resonance. Now, it can still be a vibration related issue.

I also think the observation of a "shutter" quality to the phenomenon is very relevant , as that is also something I sense quite strongly. Almost a looseness somewhere that manifests it self in what we are sensing.

This is quite upsetting. :(

Here's a couple other things to consider. Do the affected vehicles have the following features:

- keyless ignition system

- automatic levelling (air bag) suspension

Or not?

Again, looking for strict correlations, which can help bring focus on the root cause.

We have the Suburban and are having a severe buffeting issue as well as severe vibration at speeds of 65-85mph.

What trim level is your Suburban?

Which engine?

Do you have auto levelling suspension?

Do you have active noise cancelling?

Do you have active suspension?

2nd row buckets or bench seat?

Roof rack cross bars?

2 or 4 wheel drive?

18", 20", or 22" wheels and tires?

Thanks!

Well we have a 2015 4wd SLT in the driveway, and a 2015 i 4wd Escalade in the garage with 50 miles. Just drove the new Lad home from work. Sorry to report the pressure is as bad if not worse then the Yukon. :(

Guess I'll try the re-setting of the fuse trick and see that does anything. Over the smallest of bumps feels like the sub woofer is booming.

Oh what we do for our spouses! I wanted to be done with this whole thing and get a nice used 2011-2014 Escslade. But Noooo, pissed!

So the first 65k was a bummer, now this 84k is just as bad. I want my a Tundra back!!

So you bought the escky without a thorough test drive?

Great idea. There's bound to be some correlation.

Hope so. Might be helpful. Can't assume anything at thins point, can't even assume GM will do such an obvious thing, although I'm sure they would. Still, be helpful for us owners to know.

I found an interesting tidbit of info over on the gm authority website in an explanation of what gM did to quiet these new suv's. Apparently, they used some kind of new style "shear type" body mount to mount the body to the high strength steel frame. As it was described, it acts as a shock absorber to dampen movement of the body on the frame. Now, I don't know about the rest of you, but I can almost feel that added "stiffness" in the vehicle. I wonder if these mount have something to do with the shudder feeling in the vehicle?

Sorry to say. But yes. Drove a couple last week and they were both much better then our Yukon. With Jason's report that his was awesome I was feeling pretty good about it. Came down to my wife did not want a nice clean used 2011-2013 Escslade. I did for the one we had a few yes ago was flawless. In fact my in laws are still driving that one with apx 140k miles on it.

SHOULD HAVE. Driven it, but was at work all day unable to break away, and wanted to surprise my family before the weekend. Wanted to something cool for the kids Christmas break, and the other one goes back this week via buy back program.

I haven't really noticed a V4 to V8 rumble like the SLT, just a constant subwoofer pressure over any little bumps. It's not a problem if you crank the stereo :)

What fuse is it to reset the stereo?? Want to try this Sunday.

When did you take delivery and when did you first notice problems? I haven't seen too much about Suburbans on this topic, I'm going to read all 400 posts today but I guess it doesn't matter which model you get, they all have a chance to have problems. I ordered a 2015i LTZ, Sable, Texas package, max trailer option, roof cross bars, 22 in wheels, cocoa/mahogany interior. No sun roof. I expect to see it sometime late Jan or Feb. I'm going to need a 24 hr test of it before buying like someone else mentioned. I hope that by then they figured out what's going on, if not my only other choice is an Expedition and I don't know much about them.

We are not the only Suburban with the problem, our dealer mentioned to us that they have had several that they are dealing with that have same vibration issue (not sure about others and buffeting or at least they haven't mentioned it). Our Service Manager even agrees that there is some sort of problem.

We notice the problems as soon as we got it on smooth highway and up to75 mph after purchasing. Dealer was closed the next day so we took the vehicle back to dealer on day 2 with 85 miles on it. Thought it was a tire balance problem, so they balanced the tires. Didn't fix it. We literally had to drive home 60mph on a 75 mph highway the whole 10 hours home. Heard the buffeting at speed of 40-65 mph, but didn't think much of it until we were on our 650 mile drive home & had to stop 3 hours into trip with ear pain pressure & headaches from buffeting. Since then we have made the 10 hour trip 4 times and every time we end up having to stop with severe headaches or kids throwing up from ear pressure/pain. At this point it has become a health hazard to our family to drive it any more than an hour at a time. My husband has a 2009 GMC Sierra and it rides better than this thing!

It was manufactured in Arlington TX with date of 8/2014. Since we bought it in September we have had it at dealer 6 times and to a tire shop with Hunter Road Force Balancing Machine 4 times. We go back in a few weeks to meet/ride with GM Engineer. I'lll let you guys know how that goes.

Sad thing is, we really love the car. It it the perfect size for our needs and the interior is quite plush. However it is a useless vehicle if you cannot drive it on the highway at highway speeds with out it shaking off the road or getting headaches and ear pain. I would be happy to order another one if I know 100% that the vibration and buffeting problem has been fixed. I have some hope considering there are a few on here that have received vehicles that don't have the problems.
