It is highly possible GM is not looking at the Bose system ... this was brought to GM's (and Bose's) attention by an owner and we all know that owners are stupid and don't have a clue. It is also possible that Bose and GM are in the finger pointing mode rather than the fix it mode.

Check this out. Was googling Active Noise Cancellation issues and found this. Someone with a 2014 Honda Odyssey minivan with pressure in his ears. He pulled the radio fuse and the sensation went away.

Anyone willing to pull their radio fuse and see if the problem goes away? I think we are onto something here...

ANC causing ear pressure

I have read many threads in here about problems with the ANC system due to replacing audio equipment. But my issue is that I bought a 2014 Odyssey and when I turn on the van, I feel pressure in my ears, like when taking off or landing in an airplane. Don't hear any noise, just get the feeling in my ears like if they were plugged. I know it is not pressure in the cabin because I feel it even with the windows cracked open. Since the ANC uses the front speakers to send the cancellation frequencies, I pulled the fuse for the radio and drove the van. The feeling went away. Anyone have experienced this problem? Maybe not in an Odyssey, but with earphones with ANC.

****UPDATED****

Dealer replicated the noise and found that rear bucket seat makes a noise at the base attachment to floor.

After some discussion with dealer they order parts and replaced the seat base hardware and solved the issue.

Rear tires balance and improved rear vibration by 90%, I'm considering driving a couple hundred miles and take it over for re-balancing. So far no more issues and happy with the vehicle.

Hi 2NEW4GM,

We are happy to hear of your update and that your dealership was able to address this for you. It's great to hear that you are satisfied and happy with your vehicle now that your concerns have been resolved. Thank you for taking the time to provide an update!

Best,

If we did find that this was the issue, the real question is will GM listen and do something about it? Andraya want to chime in here? Will anyone at GM who reads this have the courtesy of a response?

I tested the theory -

I pulled the "AMP" fuse out of our Denali, which made the radio and center screen completely stay off. No radio or anything worked-- but it seem to have made the sensation WORSE...??? I drove to the store with the pressure and decided to re-install the fuse for the ride back home.. During that ride, I rolled down the windows, opened up the sunroof to see if it would "reset" the sound in the cabin.. THAT seem to have done something as later on that night, I took the car back out and didn't feel the pressure as bad or if at all...

As I was riding w/ the AMP fused pulled, I did noticed that our Denali is actually extremely quiet. This makes me wonder if the noise everyone is hearing is from the dang sound system. The pressure, I really have no clue where it's coming from, but the buffeting could very well be coming from the sound system. All speculations, really :)

Rather a sad state of affairs, isn't it...where the owners of a vehicle, not the manufacturer find the solution to a problem and then speculate whether or not the manufacturer will do anything about it. This cannot come as a result of a one off attitude or experience. It's a view point learned from many past experiences or observations. So basically people have learned two things over time: (1) if there is a problem with your vehicle, you will have to find the cause and the solution; and, (2) you will have to apply your solution because the manufacturer will not. What does that say about a brand?

In one question, Andymac pretty much summarized GM's corporate persona. Sad.

Thanks for trying 20Sierra14. I think you took the air out of the room with that post. I guess we will all have to wait around for GM to figure this mess out.

Bulletin #06-06-05-001f INFORMATION ON CHANGES IN EXHAUST TONE FOR (AFM) ACTIVE FULE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

I have confirmed problem with GM Senior field reps who state the "buffering noise / vibration when coasting or when the (AFM) kick in to 3 or 4 cylinders. I was told this is NORMAL condition for all (AFM) fullsize trucks and no repairs should be attempted.

WOW sounds like all of us have the same problem across the board. USE the DIC monitor to montior when the cylinder deactivates from 8 to 4 cylinders then press the gas slowly, thus the NOISE

GM states to put the truck in manual mode to elimnate the kickdown on the (AFM) to eliminate the buffering sound.

Anyone else think GM will try and fix this????

Not a bloody chance. Basically, what GM is saying is there is no problem. Since there is no problem, there is nothing to fix. Further (attention Feds), GM says to turn off AFM to eliminate the problem that doesn't exist; but, in saying that, they just screwed CAFE by invalidating the fuel economy ratings for that engine. Sweet.

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing here. The "buffeting" pressure in ears that I experienced had nothing to do with the V8/V4 AFM mode . I experienced it when traveling at low speed (10 mph) down a bumpy dirt road. The engine was in V8 mode the entire time.

....I'm willing to bet, in GM's escape from responsibility program, they have decided the problem is one and the same.

I have a 2015 Suburban with the same issue. It is a rumble (like a rear window is down) and only happens between 40-50 for the most part, peaking at 45 mph. Towing is much worse, which makes me think it's the transmission. Also, the vibration surges. For example, if I put the vehicle in cruise control at 45 mph, the vibration increases and decreases rhythmically. While towing a single axle trailer with about 1,500 pounds of cargo, the Suburban would violently shake at times, and then be perfectly smooth other times. The dealership can't figure it out, but they are trying hard for me and I appreciate it.

Well, Thirdsuburban. I certainly hope there is a resolution to your issue. Similar problems have been reported to dealers, GM, and GM Customer Care since before July of this year, with no resolution thus far. Note however the majority on this thread have reported buffeting. However, in another thread on this forum (http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/153186-shake-or-vibration-issues/page-250?do=findComment&comment=1537048), there are several reported vibration problems not dissimilar to yours. You may find additional information in that thread which may be of interest to your dealer. That information will certain not be available to you from GM Customer Care.
