Took back the Suburban so that the GM engineer could evaluate. They went through it and had some other recommendations to attempt a fix. If the fix is unsuccessful then a buyback or an exchange would be the next step.

I will know Friday if its fixed.

FYI-

The 2015iMY Suburban's are defined as an INTERIM PROCESSING CODE. It will be listed on the build sheet as AVF:2015iMY code under "offered options". The dealer will have the build sheet... its called GM GlobalConnect. Most delivery schedules appear delayed.

2. GM took Suburban's and Yukon's from 4300 status(immediate delivery) and changed them to 4D00 ( bayed / pulled for quality control- timeframe unknown) and sent them back to Arlington Texas via rail from all over starting the first week of October.

3. I did a Search of used 2015 Suburban's or Yukon's within 250 mile radius and found 63 for sale with less than 8000 miles that had multiple titles issued ?(GM buyback mileage cutoff is 7500 miles) you can get docket #'s from the titles if you desire and talk with the prior owners. Just run the vin #'s through Carfax until you find one with multiple titles.

4. GM did not issue a TSB based on a few vehicle's with this problem. For GM to issue a TSB they require a "JUSTIFABLE AMOUT" of them. Their term not mine.

If you have this issue with your truck then you should be doing all the research you can. My dealership seems to be very eager to resolve my problem at this point, so as frustrating as it has been I feel they are going to stand by the product if they cannot resolve the issue. I do believe there is a disconnect between GM and the dealerships. GM has been trying to keep this quite and I don't think they are being upfront with our service department.

I am not at all surprised that GM is trying to hide this issue and be less than forthcoming with the dealers. They've put the dealers in this position in the past. Ignoring it is not going to make the problem go away. In my case (different issue), multiple sources within GM misinformed the dealer, provided me (in writing) with absolutely incorrect information and, knowing full well they were looking at a buy back situation, kept dragging their feet until the magic 7500 miles came up on the odometer.

Good luck with that...

Win or lose, it will be more expensive for them than it would have been had they addressed the matter in a proper and reasonable manner early on.

Got truck back today and surprise the sound is still there. They installed some sound material in the cabin of the truck and reattached the roof bows....again. it also appears that they may have removed the windshield??? not sure why but when I noticed the marks it was past 5 so the service manager was gone. We took the vehicle for a long ride and I tried to figure out WTF.. My wife and I both noticed that the Buffering sound is almost non existent in the second and third row!!!! So whatever the issue is it seems to be isolated to the front seats and for that reason Im convinced it not the roof flexing. ANYONE else notice this ??? Anyway it looks like we are going to order another one and hope they have fixed it with the 2015iMY.

What i will say that made the noise worse, was when it was in v4. But what was weird about this one is when i drive down a dirt rd the quick rumble make the cab build pressure and it makes your ears want to pop constantly.

I have noticed the noise getting worse on rough roads too. LuvGMC try riding in the second or third row seat while you are driven on the same roads to see it you still hear the noise. I have found its nearly non existent back there in ours. Let me know what you find

Any news with the shocks? The field engineer tried multiple shocks and road force balancing which they say fixed the problem. Too rigid or too stiff shocks for the frame. See if you can find out about that...Again, I never had a chance to verify it worked myself as they purchased it back before I could drive it again.

I sure hope they got it fixed...my 2015i was just built on Wednesday. Please cross your fingers...

jasondenali15 - you mention things like the engineers using different shocks and the possibility the shocks being too rigid or stiff for the frame. Tahoe LTZ, Denali, and Escalade all use the Magnetic Ride suspension (MRS) where as the Tahoe LT/LS and Yukon uses the Premium Ride suspension (PRS). I have a Tahoe LT and complained about the shocks and suspension being too spongy (or soft), total opposite of your rigid or stiff comment.

I'm not comparing the quality of the suspensions, but it would be interesting to know if the PRS is better than the MRS for the GM fullsize vehicle line in addressing the issue on this thread. A way to get data would be for Yukon and Tahoe LT/LS owners to comment and say whether or not they are experiencing the issue on this thread.

Maybe I'm wrong, but with all the similarities with these vehicles, folks may need to start looking at the differences to find the answer.

Paraphrased definition: MRS; manages body roll, traction, and steering. PRS; reduces the interior cab from bumps and irregularities.

Post #226, Luvgmc - "quick rumble on a dirt road make the cab build pressure and makes your ears want to pop".

Based on GMs PRS definition, this would have been the better suspension in the post 226 scenario. If so, there may not have been any cab pressure or the feeling of your ears wanting to pop.

Makes sense to me, but what do I know, I'm just a customer.

I never purchased any of these vehicles, due to the I experiencing the same issues on this thread, but test drove many ( Tahoe/Suburban Yukon/YukonXL ) all in the LS/LT level. We found 95% of them had the buffering noise and pressure in the ears feeling. One thing we noticed, the worst was in the longer versions. Started our search in April, last test drove was September. Talked with the dealer we trade with and they say the vehicles sell as fast as they receive them. They also claim they have not heard of these issues at all? I find very hard to believe....

This is even more concerning for me. I have 5 miles of rough dirt road from the town to our front door. I cannot imagine how uncomfortable this would be if we had the buffering noise on the pavement and didnt even have a chance to make it to the dirt. If the roof rails are coming loose on "city" use trucks it sounds like my roof wont be around long after a year on my roads. My question remains, if they have a "fix" for this problem in the new production units why doesnt GM simply tell us what the problem is so we can rest easy and move on. GM where are you? Are you hiding again? You see how that turned out with the ignition issue. Step up to the plate!! Some communication here...

I found this article very interesting. Does not bode well for GM at this point.

This is a copy of an article found on carcomplaints.com

November 20, 2014 — Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne has filed a lawsuit against General Motors that could possibly cost GM $3 billion. Filing the 125-page GM lawsuit on behalf of the residents of Arizona, the attorney general claims the automaker constantly concealed numerous safety defects for a decade, all to save money.

The "New" GM

The Arizona lawsuit against GM separates the "old" GM and the "new" GM, with the "new" GM incorporated in 2009 after the automaker filed bankruptcy.

After receiving billions in a U.S. government bailout, the new GM bragged it was changing its old culture and was building the best and safest vehicles in the world. The relentless marketing caused vehicle sales to increase, all while the public believed the "new" GM was actually new. However, the Arizona lawsuit says it was all an illusion created by GM as the automaker continued to conceal numerous safety defects.

Calling the number of concealed defects "astounding," Arizona says along with the disastrous ignition switch defects, GM vehicles are laced with defective airbags, seatbelts, brakes, brake lights, electronic stability control, windshield wipers, sensing and diagnostic modules and warning chimes.

While allegedly hiding the ugly truth from the public, the new GM walked in the footsteps of its past by training personnel to never use certain words. Many of the words relate to safety, such as "defect," "stall" and any other words that would indicate a safety defect.

Additionally, safety-related words were not to be used in "technical service bulletins" which were sent to GM dealers about how to repair vehicles.

According to Steve Oakley, who drafted a GM service bulletin related to ignition switch defects:

“The term ‘stall’ is a ‘hot’ word that GM generally does not use in bulletins because it may raise a concern about vehicle safety, which suggests GM should recall the vehicle, not issue a bulletin.”

Arizona says other GM personnel confirmed what Oakley said, saying “there was concern about the use of ‘stall’ in a TSB because such language might draw the attention of NHTSA.”

The complaint further alleges employees were trained in how to choose the cheapest part suppliers without the safety of owners in mind.

The lawsuit doesn't let current CEO Mary Barra off the hook, either. Recently GM claimed only lower level engineers knew about the defects, something the state of Arizona says is false.

In one example, Barra was told in 2011 about a defect in the power steering of several models. Barra was in charge of product development in 2011, but despite 30,000 warranty claims and almost 5,000 complaints about power steering problems, GM didn't admit the problems until 2014.

Saying GM has an "abysmal safety record" submerged in a "culture of deceit," the Arizona lawsuit says the new GM's way of dealing with safety defects is to ignore them.

Based on internal documents and congressional testimony, the new GM allegedly lives by two codes: The GM "salute" and the GM "nod."

The GM Salute

A crossing of the arms and pointing outward towards others, indicating the responsibility belongs to someone else.
The GM Nod

CEO Barra describes the GM nod as what happens when everyone nods in agreement to a proposed plan of action, but then leaves the room with no intention to follow through. Meaning, nothing gets done.
While GM managers were busy saluting and nodding, the lawsuit alleges GM's blatant lies caused consumers to invest in vehicles the automaker knew would decrease in value more than advertised.

According to the state of Arizona, the 2010 and 2011 Chevrolet Camaro have a diminished value of $2,000 when compared to the value of comparable vehicles; the 2009 Pontiac Solstice has diminished $2,900 in value; the 2010 Cadillac STS had diminished in value by $1,235 in September 2014; and the 2010 Buick LaCrosse had diminished by $649 in that same month.

GM is expected to strongly defend itself in court by denying Arizona's accusations, but GM will eventually have to explain the reasoning behind its massive advertising campaigns since 2009.

“[W]hen lives are on the line, you need a dependable vehicle you can rely on. Chevrolet and GM ... for power, performance and safety.” - Taken from a 2013 national GM advertisement

FWIW I can confirm this happened to the Yukon Denali we ordered. Truck was built in early October and sent by rail to NJ for trucking to dealer in late October. Then it was sent back to TX and is now on the way back here to the NE.

I am not sure if I have the build sheet or something else. It does have the 8 speed but does not have the interim build code on the sheet. I guess I will know more when I see the sticker.
