Not One, but Four...

Shit happens... Just 2 weeks ago I was driving on a major highway in the fast lane.. 2 cars Infront, one car behind me. All going the same exact speed of about 82-83 mph in a 55... Cop was hiding in the woods and pulled out after we all passed. All 4 cars in the line got in the right lane a dropped it down to 60. Cop comes up and only pulls ME over... Get 2 points and a 250 dollar ticket but I'm going to court to argue. I'll pay the money and not take any points if that's what it comes down to.

That "certificate" in germany sounds like a buncha government bs to me...

Well, not quiet.

Isn't it in our all interest to have safe cars on the road? Sure there are existing laws.

But people have less and less self-reflection and sense of responsibility.

And what one has to pay for the safety check in Germany is way cheaper than a ticket or a life.

I'll just get Recon tails, but I prefer the stock lights but, darker. He was looking to get me since he said, he couldn't get to me last week or whatever. I know for a fact, I wasn't doing 70, maybe 64 at the most. But, its whatever. My dad use to be a State Trooper for 20 years, he told me sounds like you got set-up.

Ehh oh well, I'll take everything off, show proof that I did. Then re tint my truck with 35% instead of 20% this time. But that's just some petty shit for my windshield strip barely over my ASI line, can't decide to leave it and pay the fine or just fix it.

Wow, it seems a lot of people in this thread are admitting to breaking the law, yet your mad when you get caught.

82 MPH in a 55 zone? I would have arrested you! 82 MPH is not safe no matter what, and it is especially unsafe when the posted limit is 55 MPH.

People do not seem to get it these days. The reason more and more laws have to be made, is because people will not stop breaking the ones we currently have. Start following the rules and you will notice your life will get a lot simpler, and a lot cheaper. There is no reason to be driving over 65 MPH at any time anyways, unless your hobby is to burn excess fuel for no good reason at all. Good luck ever stopping in an emergency if your doing 82 MPH. IF you survive, you will completely torn asunder by the legal system, and found automatically at fault.

Funny how I have over 1,000,000 miles of accident/ticket free long haul truck driving experience, and heavy hauling experience at that. I am only 26 years old. Yet people twice my age who are suppose to be "wise" can't seem to figure it out.

I will refuse to go 65 when I drove on highways with 70, 75, and 80 MPH speed limits.

Around here, speed limit is 55mph.....stay to the right if you're doing the limit....leave that lane, and you'll get run over.....I travel along with 90% of the traffic at 70mph, and stay out of the way of others who want to go faster.....if I get stopped, and ticketed, my fault....worst was 140 in a 55 at 3am in the morning, boy did I get a lecture....cop even admitted if I did not hit the brakes (when I saw him on the side of the road), he never would of even puled out.

Think the most I've ever got was doing 45 in a 40mph zone. Got a ticket and had to go to traffic school to keep if off my record. Other was driving through OurKansas doing 80 in a 70 with traffic and he pulled me over even though he was looking for a tan truck, which he wrote TAN in the description, that was hauling ballz past all of us. Told him this was complete b.s. and talked with his supervisor when I got home. Paid the fine either way but no points taken and apology from the supposed officer. Other than that, usually keep it on the safe side cause I like money lol.

I got pulled over doing 74 in a 50 when we were trouble shooting the vibration on my first 14. The officer saw the tech and let us go with a warning. He said to take it to the highway lol. Sucks that the cop was a D*c*. Check eBay for stock takeoffs for taillights

I haven't got a speeding ticket......opps scratch that, knock on wood sh^t, jinks myself. Any way in Texas you go 65 they'll run your ass off the road.

    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
    • Those can be high, as well as the big California cities. The ones that will pop your eyes out are the 395 corridor on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. Lee Vining, $7.19 for regular and $8.89 for diesel is what the Google said right now.
