Not One, but Four...

Well, it finally happened after 5 years. Was on our way to pick up a kitten, since we got our new apartment. That's what the ole lady wanted. Which was fine by me.

Anyways, on our way there on the four-lane. Looked in my rear view mirror and was like you gotta be kidding me! Charging pretty fast was good ole State Trooper. Well he pulled me over. Not just one ticket. But freaking four. Speeding, tint, darkened tail lights & also my strip across the windshield was too low. Like one inch below my AS1 line.

He told me, he saw me a week ago speeding, but couldn't turn in time to get me. So, I'm thinking he was on a mission to just pull me over today if he ever had the chance. He was traveling in the opposite direction, when he apparently clocked me doing 71 in a 55. Which, I know wasn't going that fast. But it's whatever I guess. Then 21% on my front windows, that strip and my tail lights. Which isn't tint, it was done by the body shop with paint to make the quality great.

Can't do much I guess, except by taking the tint off, shortened the strip on the windshield & get new tail lights. Which is gonna be costly. All the tickets, I can payoff and don't have to go to court. I could go and drop em all, could get the speed ticket dropped.

It's not my first tickets, but first on my truck. Just which really aggravates me. He told me I had a speeding problem. I didn't say much to that. First ticket in over 3 years. Just kinda bummed. I'm glad as soon as I pulled over, I turned my truck off to avoid him hearing my exhaust, where I have that Super 10 muffler on. He woulda probably charged me for that too. Sorry guys, for just a long post. Just gets to me.

That sucks. Sounds like a jerk. I got a written warning for tint a while back from state boy, but never removed it. Aound here ive never talked to anyone who actually got a ticket for it.

I'm wondering if your mods are legal?

I mean it still sucks to get a ticket. When it was the first time a warning would do it too.

But just yesterday a truck was driving in front of me where I could barely make out his brake lights. Ok the deep sun in the morning didn't help but I had no problem seeing the other cars tail lights.

Don't know about the strip in the windshield.though...it's not like that one has to watch for air planes.

My point is if the mods are legal fight it, if they are not legal bite it.

Badge-heavy cop.

There are a lot of good, helpful police out there. This guy isn't one of them....but it's easier to harass someone over penny-ante bullshit than it is to go after serious, career criminals. Safer, too.

Most of it seems frivolous but depending on how dark your tails are I can understand that. So many idiots have used tint spray/film and their lights are so dark it's impossible to see anything when they light up. Right or wrong, tint attracts a lot of attention from the police which is one reason why I'd never use it.

Thanks for the responses guys, makes me feel better. Some of 'em are illegal like the tails and tint. But he was in pissed off mood. As soon as I heard he saw me a week ago & couldn't get to me. I knew I was screwed.

In the past I had 5% all around on my G8 GT. Well, I had 2 tickets on that and I just paid them off. But he told me, if I get one more tint ticket it be a misdemeanor.. & was thinking to myself, I can lose my state job bc of a damn tint ticket? Gotta be kidding me.

Personally, I don't agree with tinted light housings. The entire purpose of them coming the way they do from the factory is so the reflectors will work when light is thrown onto your vehicle, even if your lights aren't on. They don't show up when your housings are tinted, which IS a safety issue.

Also, I don't know how you drive, but just because you haven't been ticketed for speeding in the past, does not mean you don't speed. Just because people can acquire a license, does not mean they are good drivers. Experience doesn't even mean your good. People can do things the wrong way throughout their entire lives, in which case the only experience they have is in doing things wrong!

I am not attacking you, I am just pointing out another perspective.

My guess is that cop has a hate on for lifted trucks, I have seen a lot of coppers like that. Maybe they are jealous they don't have one?

Well, that stinks, but if its illegal, you can get a ticket. If it's not, prove it and go to court.

I had a cop flat out lie about my speed one time. After getting new tires and wheel of a different size I checked my speedometer, it was about 5-6 mph over actual. A few month later, I was reading 65 in a 55(so I was going 4-5 over) , and he pulled me over for going 70 in a 55. I knew of this guy though, he set up speed traps in an area where I worked a year before, a few times a month, he could write tickets faster than you would believe.

That makes me wondering anyway...

When I do mods on my truck aren't I supposed to do necessary adjustments or even more modifications?

I mentioned in another thread before that I think after a lift or level job the head lights ought to be adjusted. Same with the speedo after installing bigger or smaller rims/tires.

What I know from Germany is that I'd have to go to the TUeV (kind of a technical safety check facility) and get an expertise about the safety and proper installation of the mod.

And they will give me a "certificate" (for the lack of words) what I have to show the officer when I get pulled over.

If I don't do so and have an accident I can loose my insurance coverage.

How is it work in North America?

I'm gonna try to get my speed tire and things calibrated. So, then I can drop everything. Got court Aug. 20th to change everything if I wanted too.

Man, once I go outside to my truck. I love it a lot. But I really don't wanna take my tint off at all.

That "certificate" in germany sounds like a buncha government bs to me. Another way for them to collect $$.

You know the laws, you broke the laws, you pay the tickets. The cop did what he gets paid to do.

Qwityerbitchin! That could be one of those hashtag thingies.
