Dusty12787 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Would anyone happen to know how to remove the horn/airbag cover so I can remove the metal trim ?
newdude Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 If you are planning to do this make sure to DISARM THE AIRBAG SYSTEM! Rotate steering wheel counter clockwise to line up lower left hand spoke with the ignition key or lower right hand spoke with turn signal. From the backside of the steering wheel fully insert a small screwdriver or equivalent tool at a slight angle pointing towards the top of the steering wheel. Apply and keep constant pressure on handle as close to upper spoke above the metal steering wheel hook. Lift the screwdriver handle up to push spring toward the center of the steering wheel, at the same time pull out on the steering wheel airbag cover to release. Rotate and repeat the steps to release the other side. Release the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
Dusty12787 Posted August 12, 2014 Author Posted August 12, 2014 Do you know how to disable the airbag?
BEastwick Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Do you know how to disable the airbag? Disconnect the battery. I'm a firefighter, and we do this at all accident scenes specifically to avoid being hit by airbags while working in and around the vehicle.

But also wait 10-15 minutes after disconnecting because the airbags have capacitors that will store current for awhile in the event a battery is destroyed in a collision. Also a firefighter:) In any event I personally wait at least 30 mins after disconnecting the battery to mess around with stuff near airbags. Those things have and can kill you if they go off while your in front of them. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk

I colormatched mine also[emoji106] The removal is easy, but putting back in is a PITA. Hopefully someone can figure out how to remove the horn cover/air bag on the steering wheel which will make this easier in the future I really like how the red came out on yours, it goes really well with the black interior
