You are right there, the soccer mom thing I couldn't resist, LOL

 

haha I tend to be overly dramatic with descriptions in an attempt to be humorous. Honestly I understand Auto has it's place and time to use it. I guess I've seen too many people misuse it so I cringe when I hear people engage it. For example a friend of my dad thought it was a luxury feature where the truck automatically knows when to use 4WD at all times so he put it in 4Auto the day he drove his 2014 off the lot and left it there for a few months until I saw him and checked out the truck and asked why his Auto was engaged.

 

So yeah varrying terrains with LIGHT off road situations or icy road conditions, Auto is great. But deep snow, sand, mud, etc. you should be in 4HI only. The idea is to avoid getting stuck in the first place....Auto won't serve you well if you've already dug your truck down into the mud or sand and bottomed out.
