Yes it does. From what I've read it's not hard to surpass the specification of Dexos 1. Like others have said it's more of a money making gimmick.

When I bought my 2011 Silverado and they said it came with dexos1 and "required" dexos1, it was a fuel saving deal and really hard to find. Within a year, most of the major brands' synthetics were compliant. They all didn't want to lose the $$. Anyway, I use Mobil1 and have for years after purchasing a '04 GTO and a CTS-V that came with it. Then, I started using it in my wife's T/A since all of them used the same filter and oil. Now, I will use it in the truck too.

I change mine when the OLM drops below 10%.... 90K miles and no issues!

My oil indicator was at 21% at 6,000 miles so I took it in for my first free oil change.
