Has anyone else had a rattle develop behind or below their steering wheel? I have a rattle that occurs from time to time and its starting to get annoying. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and if so, were you able to fix it?

a few people have reported finding loose screws and such in the truck so look around and make sure the things under there are all screwed in tight and not loose.

it could be as simple as the wiring harness rattling and needs to have a plastic tie strap secure it in place

there is also a rattle from the sunglasses holder reported for some trucks when the little tab rattles against the plastic housing

I did. The welds on a panel under the steering column broke, causing a rattle behind the outer plastic shell. They replaced a part, but it still rattles if I tap it.

if that's the case then get some of that bubble wrap and slip it in there between the both of em and it wont rattle anymore, you could also use silicone but bubble wrap is better if you might need to remove it at some point in the future

Yep, mine was the hood release cable. Tied it to a wiring bundle so it curved around and put pressure on cable. Mostly on what I call wash board roads. The steel cable vibrates against the plastic outer

covering.

I have a rattle that sounds like its coming from my steering column or within the steering wheel. Cannot figure it out, it sounds like metal on metal tinging.

I popped the panel off below my steering wheel last night and a screw fell to the floor. There are 4 screws holding the plastic frame to a metal frame and all of them were loose. One had worked its way completed out and was rattling around. Tightened them up and it helped my rattling problems big time. Still have the inside steering wheel rattle though.

My 2015 Silverado is at the shop now for a few things including this rattle. They informed me there was a bulletin just released for a rattle behind the knee bolster. Sounds like they just had to tighten some plastic screws behind this panel. Don't have it back yet, but I hope it is fixed.

Nope, that wasn't it. Have to see what they say tomorrow.

Do you know the TSB #? Just curious in case I have this problem.

Is it just screws or clips as well?

No TSB for it on the sheet. They are actually plastic rivets that have to be remelted and tightened somehow. Didn't fix my rattle anyway.

So I'm not sure if mine is the same as yours as I have a '16 Sierra, but right at the bottom of the steering wheel there are two thin flaps of plastic going back towards the firewall. Drove me crazy for the first two months owning the truck. As I drive down the road I can put my fingers on these and the rattle stops. I plan on using silicone to make it stop.
