Silverado Projector Headlights

This is intended strictly for Silverado's with projector headlights, I guess it's only LTZ or High Country. Not Sierras! You guys have enough posts in the other topic.

I did the HID's when I got the truck and had the same problems as others; got tired of the inconsistencies and went back to stock. I'm fine with the stock light output but looking for something that's not yellow, probably around a 5000k output color.

What have you guys used and how do you like them? Post pictures of what you have.

I may try HID's again if I cant get a regular bulb but that's why I want to see what everyone else has tried. Thanks.

I guess I'm lucky, but I've never understood why so many people have issues with HIDs. I bought middle of the road DDM Tuning kit and haven't had a single issue. I've bought plenty of <$20 chinese full HID Kits off eBay in other vehicles or fogs and never had issues....

But, to address your question, on my last Mercedes I ran Phillips Diamond Vision bulbs in factory projectors and the color and light output is GREAT, granted those bulbs cost about the same as a DDM Tuning full HID Kit

I never ran any relay or anything in mine and had problems so I just took them out. Fog light always worked fine.

I'll look into the phillips diamond vision

Just run the relays and you'll be set

Yeah it will probably be my cheapest route since I already have the HID's. I have 6000k now but they were a little too blue for my liking, 5000k will be better and that's why I wanted to see if anyone was running anything else. When it comes down to it I'll probably just put the 6000k back in if I decide to go with HID's again.

Yeah 6000k is a little blue. I have the 5000k and at certain angles they shine a little blue for my liking but I was worried about going any lower and looking to stock halogen

I havent followed this in a while, but has anyone figured out how to shutoff the DRLs? Thats been one of the main hurtles keeping me from doing the conversion.

Edit.. wanted to subscribe

Definitely put a relay harness in. Dump the 6000k bulbs. 5000k or lower will be much easier on your eyes and make you see better.... and isn't that what headlights are for?

LED bulbs and tinted halogen bulbs will not have the output of the HID.

Mine actually lit up pretty well but I'm just not a fan of blue, leave that for the kids. I like more pure white. It seems like the projector pulls more of that blue color out... I have 6000k on my bike and its not as blue

See how the fogs are more white and the projectors are blue, both the same brand and both 6000k

I am a little worried seeing your 6000k being blue. I just ordered Diode Dynamic 6000k fog LED to match HID kit 6000k color. Site says pure white and the fogs are in and are very white, so wait and see I guess. I hope it matches. Do the Projector lights have a halo when in DRL mode? I saw a set behind me a while back and could swear it had factory bulb yellow halo and projector eye was not on. I just ordered LTZ Projectors to replace the reflectors and putting HID in them. Basically same as what you have there.

Just FYI -- "true" white color in HID's is right around 4500K. Once you get to 5500K-6000K you start getting a slight bluish tint. Of course each manufacturer will vary slightly but according to the Kelvin scale if you want true white, you want 4500K.

I don't have HID's yet (I need to upgrade from the LT lenses to projectors) but if you already have the stock projectors I recommend this:

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/hid-systems/morimoto-elite-hid-system-silverado-low-beam.html?carDisplay=2015+Chevrolet+Silverado&preselect=HARN-RELAY-H11%2CXB-BALLAST-35%2CXB2-H-ELEVEN-45-B%2CXB2-H-ELEVEN-45-A#.VmngtMQmxcZ

It's plug-and-play with everything you need and others have said great things about it (if you already have projectors make sure you pick the "H11B/4.5/35" bulbs)

If you don't want new projectors go with the TRS kit. If you want new projectors go with the fastheadlights kit. Can't beat the FXR's and 4500k bulbs. If you go with the FXR's just be prepared to extend the headlight cap.

In my 2015 Silverado, after starting the truck, I just turn off the auto headlight control and that shuts off the DRL's. If you do not want to do this there is a DRL disable harness available here but it is a little pricey: http://www.gen5diy.com/Chevrolet/Silverado/Silverado-DRL-Harness/

Haha I read through it and realized that when I hit your last post. I still dont see a good way to improve light output and color without losing the auto headlights/DRLs. So mine are still stock until I do.
