Problem - Jet Performance Chip Stage 2

Thanks for the comments..... I'll look into some options.....

The Jet performance stage 2 chip is junk, pure and simple.

GM has not used "chips" (EPROMS) in the ECMS since the late 80's to maybe the early 90's. That "chip" you bought does nothing more than trick the IAT (intake air temp) sensor into thinking it is 32° as the incoming air temps to the intake. This causes the ECM to richen the fuel mixture up, so basically you are making the engine run rich for no reason.

The throttle body spacer will do nothing as well. Do some research on them, they were designed for carbs and the first generations FI carbs (FI throttle bodies) to in essence make the plenum area larger and to smooth out airflow as it went into the intake. This was back when intakes were a wet flow design (fuel and air charge traveled thru the intake), the then the spacers helped with atomizing the fuel for better performance.

The truck you own now has a Direct Injection intake system, the fuel injector sprays directly into the combustion chamber. No fuel travels in the intake system, it is a dry airflow system. The TB spacer does nothing at all on any modern fuel injection system where the fuel injectors are in a rail spraying near or directly into the combustion chamber.

If you want a pretty cheap way to get some noticeable improvements, look into a used diablo intune. You can get them for 250 or so used. Back when I used one, my E85 tune netted me 34whp and 42 lbft with custom tuning. You can also really improve the craptastic factory transmission tuning, although pretty basic, it will make a drastic improvement. What the others have said ia all true though. Intakes won't do anything for these 5.3s other than create sound, even the exhaust is pretty non restrictive. Now that my mods are a little more in depth, I had to go the HP tuners route and tuned it myself. So far I have put down 391whp on E85 with my current setup and I still use the factory intake. My exhaust is all custom because I've done AR longtubes, but even that didn't net me much. Other than tuning, there isn't a whole lot to be had with these trucks as far as mild mods go. If you really want to make an improvement, save your pennies and pick your poison for a boist setup. These new ecotec 3 engines really love boost, and thanks to the di setup, you can make some pretty nice safe numbers.

Well the money is spent and the parts are installed, ordering from the US to Canada they do not accept returns so there is no point changing or reversing what I have done at this point. I am pissed at myself for not posting this up BEFORE I ordered it all and I have to live with that. But for now it is what it is....

I will look into a tuner for it. I looked at a few brands already...... Have to see what I find.....

Thanks again everyone for the comments.

Jason,

Just my recommendation, but I'd not go with do-it-yourself tuning devices from where you are with this truck. You can get into some trouble and actually damage your truck if you get it to detonate (ping) badly. I'd go with an in-person tune from Blackbear. He has many years and many trucks tuned under his belt. Justin will give you advice if you ask. Also, go to their section on this forum and ask Julie about equipment and tuning. They're good people and know this stuff inside out.

I have no personal knowledge of the stuff you bought, but I believe the guys that advised you it wasn't effective. There's lots of equipment on the market that doesn't do what it is advertised to do.

take it off, sell it on craigslist or ebay. i would buy a tuner first, and then look into true modifications before i put that stuff on my vehicle. a quick google reports exactly what this thread is saying about all the modifications you were duped into buying.
