Problem - Jet Performance Chip Stage 2

Good morning everyone....

I recently bought a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5.3.

Z71 with an All Terrain Package

Changes over stock are:

Smoked Tail Lights

Tailgate Bar

Tonneau cover

Ram Cold Air Intake

JET Mass Air Flow Sensor

Beyond this it is stock....

Throttle Body Spacer is on route but not here yet.

Yesterday I got the the Jet Performance Chip Stage 2.... However when I plug it in, I get my check engine light come on and I get a message that says my engine has lost power (Picture attached)......

When I unplug it and remove it and the truck is fine... Add it back in again and the same thing..... I have left messages with the guys at JET but am still waiting on a call back. (only been one day)

OK, so under the hood, on the drivers side, beside the empty battery tray are 3 plugs... Looking from the top down I plugged this unit into the first one (top one with blue tape on the wiring harness). From everything I can read that is correct, JET's instructions said to go to the blue coloured one....

Any idea's?

The JET MAF is junk.

The "chip" is junk.

The throttle spacer is junk too.

Sorry, but all 3 are a thing of the past. They will have no positive effect on a modern vehicle. Send it all back and get your money back.

I ran a grantelli maf and it caused my truck to not run correctly. I will never use an after market maf anymore.

Sorry for the late reply, did not have this set up to send me notifications... I have to FULLY DISAGREE with you all. I have noticed a difference in power and fuel mileage..... NOT a huge difference, not going to say it is, but it is a noticeable one....

The one thing none of you have done is supply me an alternative. If not these products then what? Honestly kind of a waste of a response if you are not going to help a guy out and are just going to spout off... Sorry, not trying to be rude but really what help was this?

Nitro mentioned calling "Black Bear" but again for what? What would I get from them or am I asking them for that I will notice a difference?

Nobody's trying to bring you down man, just being honest. Anything that turns on an engine light is bad news.

There are lots of options for tuning on GM pickups. Multiple people do custom tunes for them, Black Bear is one. There are a few options for programmers too. Tons of info on the forum about this.

IMO, if someone is looking to upgrade their engine performance of a new $40-50k truck, its gonna take a helluva lot more than a couple hundred bucks to do it and get anything in the form of a real improvement not to mention consideration of warranty implications or other problems to be encountered.

Fact is, the majority of these type "chips"are nothing more than gadgets that come with a bunch of advertising hype. Please feel free to prove me wrong!

Blackbear performance tune will be the best money you can spend. The throttle body spacer does nothing for modern trucks. It helps old non vortec truck motors and the mad sensor is junk too and has been proven over and over and over again that the stock sensor works better. Blackbear custom tune will give you more of a performance increase than all those things you bought.

He's tuned 4 of my previous trucks and its worth every penny.

Didn't think anyone was bringing me down... I hate text as you can't see my emotion... It was all good,. just saying I did notice a difference, and if people are going to tell me something I did was a bad idea (many said return it all) then suggest a different idea.... Is all I meant.

Also got rid of the engine light, it was an issue with the instructions that were sent... Called them and they told me to try something not in the instructions... And it worked... Again sorry but I did not add them all at once, I did them all on different days and I DID notice a difference. My fuel tank and the power I have when I hit the throttle tell me so....
