Can a bad fan clutch cause engine misfire p0300

I replaced my fan clutch in my 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD 6.0 yesterday. I took it for a test drive and started to feel an engine misfire and the check engine light came on. As far as the fan clutch it sounded like a jet engine. Serves my right from buying a $55 Autozone fan clutch when I thought I could save myself some money when a GM one went for $155.

Got home and scanned it and came up with p0300 engine misfire code.

So I can't fiqure out how a bad fan cluch could possible cause a misfire issue. Or are they seperate issues?

What do you think?

Bought and installed a GM fan clutch today. Went for a ride and all is good. No misfires and fan sounds good. Really happy to get this fixed but still wondering how could a bad fan clutch cause a misfire and p0300 code.

Anyone have any ideas how these things are related???

I would agree with you but the misfire only has happened when the crap Autozone fan clutch in the truck. As soon as the new GM fan clutch went in trouble went away.

Rob, can you surmise a way the two might be related? Clearly they were, but still...kind of boggles the mind. All I could come up with is that it was poorly balanced and caused some crankshaft vibration that dorked with the crank position sensor?

You nailed it , it is a junk part from the aftermarket , I hate the aftermarket , I've seen crap parts all the time or I get the wrong parts at my gov't job as it goes thru 10 people and or don't use use the part # I gave them which they got me 2 trucks before , it makes me insane

Also if something is different after a repair , it's obviously something with the part or repair procedure ,

I got a steering rack for an 08 G van and the cap popped out on the end of the pinion housing ( I remember a campaign or TSB about that cap ) anyways , I got a totally different rack that was 10 times better from the jobber store . Different housing etc ,

I get saving money but my god , at what cost in PITA crap parts , our parts guys hate to return anything so the cost blows over OEM parts ,,,,,,

Rant over for now lol

As always Rob is correct, Garbage In Garbage Out, if fan clutch is Electronic, then solenoid coil may create a short circuit and suck all available Juice from the battery - and create misfire.

as always I can be wrong. so forgive me! :)

The fan clutch was not electronic that's what confuses me. I would have to agree with "CapitalTruck". It's got to be something very close to what he said.
