2015 Sierra All Terrain 6.2/8 speed is here!

Man, I gotta drive an 6.2 w/ 8spd. My dads new Ram has the 8 speed, and the Hemi is BALLSY. I can only imagine how the 6.2 is with the new 8 spd.

That is the exact truck I'd like to order. Will have to keep this 14 for a few years first though.

Just like to give an 8 speed 6.2L update. I know i will get hate for this but its a post i think most will be interested in.

my old 2014 6.2L 6 speed was speed limited to 112 MPH

well that all is different in the new 2015 6.2L 8 speed

the new Limiter is limited to 98 MPH

Anyone else with a 2015 8 speed 6.2L notice this ?

I haven't got mine up that fast yet. Interesting news though. I really don't plan on driving around much at 98+ anyways but it does kind of piss me off that someone is telling me that I can't.

I know right i was so let down when i wouldn't go more than 98. hope dodge ford and yoga don't go faster

yeah what happen was i was on the highway and wanted to get off on the exit ahead. But i wanted to get around the big truck so i wouldn't have rocks all flying at my front end so i hit the gas and when i got to 94 i could feel the truck start to slow its self down and thought no way could i be close to the speed limiter on the truck so i decided next chance i had open space on the highway with no one around i had to try it and yup the truck got up to 98 quick! then the truck stopped and started to shift gears to get better MPG

I believe that the truck can do over 100 not sure why GM limited this one to 98 while last year was 112

for the extra 2,500 the 6.2 is this year should be able to at least hit 100 not that i drive that fast but if this is the most HP you can get in a full size 1500 truck shouldn't it do at least 2 more miles per hour for 100

wonder if the 2015 5.3 is 98 MPH or if they lowered that as well?

Its tire related, a good reason to charge more for z rated tires. These trucks with ( z) rated tires could do 120+ MPH. A tune would change that. People would chime in that that speed is unsafe, which is true of course but I would like to see around 120. In the western US with higher speeds you could easily be passing hit the limit and a little more MPH could be helpful.

i have the goodyear eagle LS2 on the truck which are rated over 98MPH

My 01,04,07,14, 5.3s with a tune would do 130 no problem. My 06 trail blazer ss, 130 no tune Z rated tires. The excuse they use is the tires.

In my case I was just interested in raising the MPH limit, firming the sift a little and turning off the V4, so I went with Hypertech. You should read some of the threads in the engine tuning section to make your selection. With an 8 speed there may not be a tune ready for your truck yet, custom maybe. There are some well regarded custom tuners here, so check out the tuning threads.

GM service will just say anything apparently... This is laughable. It's a shame the new corvette won't have a high top speed....you know....since it has essentially the same 8-speed transmission...

[/quote The Vette has those super special Z rated tires so it has an higher limit on top end. I come from a car nut family, as far back as I can remember at family gatherings we would be gathered around the latest hot rod checking it out. You name it someone in the family would have it. The one thing that was pretty common was the tires, G70-14s bias ply tires. I cant recall anyone ever blowing a tire from high speeds. With the exception of prolong very high speeds, the tires that come on most cars and trucks should be able to handle 120 MPH for the times they may see it.
