I went to my dealership yesterday to see if there were any 6.2's in stock to test drive, but they didn't have any yet. Just a lot of 5.3's. The salesperson told me she personally thought the 6.2 was a waist of gas & the 8 speed was not that much different from the 6. It was funny. Lol.

Nice truck! Cant wait for mine to arrive. Once you get some more miles on the odometer, some additional comments on the performance 6.2L/8-speed would be greatly appreciated. I am assuming you have a 3.23 rear? Also, how is the ride from a vibration/shake perspective?

Nice truck! How is the mpg on the 6.2 compared to the 5.3? If I could have either or that would be my main selling point. Though in my heart I would want the 6.2 for sure.

I thought the 2014 5.3 All terrain had a standard 3.42 gear ratio.

 

Some of us with the earlier built ones got the 3.08 gears and now GM is saying we can't tow as much as we could when we bought the truck

Who ever said theres no difference in the 2015 to 2014 6.2 sounds a little jelly...

 

heres mine love it

 

194 miles avg is 13.2 MPG

on the highway it just does amazing with the smoothness and the magnetic ride control

got it up to 85

waiting for more miles and to break in the engine more to really test it

best MPG so far was 20 maintain around 14 city and 17 hw of the 194 so far

must say the 8 speed and 3.23 gears can lay down the power when needed

truck will shift down to grab gears when you need to mash the gas to accelerate and will do so smoothly

 

if you get a chance i would test drive one when they come to lots prob in 2015 when they are no longer coming in as pre sold inventory

I'm presently using the 4G internet service in my 6.2L/8-Speed double cab truck as I make this posting from the passenger seat. I've got a bed full of hunting gear after a few days of hunting in SD, so my mileage is based on both many highway miles and many lower speed dirt roads while driving between hunting spots. Presently my mileage is 3292 miles, my combined trip mileage is 19.8 mpg and my last 400 miles (all highway, 71-73 mph) is showing 21.1 mpg.

 

Have any other new owner's found the new feature in the accel pedal? There is an initial stopping point almost all the way to the floor where it's easy to stop pushing the pedal forward, but if you need another downshift and more acceleration you can push through all the way to the floor and get another downshift!

For now they are all 3.23's. They will not be building max tows until Jan 2015.
