Extended Warranty?

I have an extended warranty on my 2010 SLT which I will be transferring to the new truck (whenever it arrives). Curious to see if other purchased extended warranty for their truck.

 

If so thru what company and how much did you pay. Google shows plans thru GM and ally (up here in Canada), however they neglect to say what the plans cost.

nope, but you have just until your factory warranty expires to decide if you want to buy the GMPP.

so ill see how i feel in 2 yrs and go from there.

Extended warranty. I've been there and learned my lesson.

I'd try to cancel take the money and run.

what does that mean, "did you read the fine print"? What are you implying by saying you learned your lesson?

They will cover everything if thats what you bought. The fine print is more prevelant on the cheaper plans. I consider the 2014 a beta model and don't have the time or extra cash for misc bs that inevitably will go wrong. I also need a loaner for work whenever they make repairs and/or maintenance.

 

I think they were asking 2500 for the 100k bumper to bumper. You can wear them down to about 1500.

In my case (I did not read all of the fine print ) it turned out that I was required to change oil every 4000km (~2500mls).

To get my truck fixed I was required to provide at least two different estimates.

If the claim is approved they would pay for the parts only. But I was supposed to get it fixed by a certified shop (of course) and have to pay for the labour.

I'm not quite sure but I think they even reserved the right to pay for comparable parts (aftermarked vs. OEM...) only.

 

This is only the most ridiculous part of the whole fine print. Can't recall everything.

 

Maybe we're talking about two different things.

If this was to me, I wasn't offended I was just curious what you meant and the story behind it. I thought the op was talking about adding the gm extended warranty?

I don't know which one he is talking about.

The one the dealer got me good with wasn't a GM extended warranty.

Don't even know the name. It was a cheap one though. Only $1200 or so. Have to dig into my files. It was 3 years ago. But I think if ripped the paper apart the moment I've finished reading the print. lol

i have batteries brake and tires for the life of the vehicle as long as i own it. its just a promo my dealership does. you have to just follow the recommended services by gm and do them at their shop and you will be covered.

im swapping to aftermarket wheels and tires so ill loose the free tires but brakes and batteries ill still be covered for, parts and service.

 

 

i ad a issue with some other aftermarket warranty company in the past rejecting claims, now i would only consider GMPP, but then you also have to consider that our powertrain is covered for something like 5 yrs and 160km really thats my biggest concern with any vehicle.. (im curious if that covered engine and exhaust sensors?) and i think the exhaust in canada has 10 yr warranty, due to emission laws.

If your extended warranty isn't GM I personally would trade the truck and get the balance back on that and buy a GM warranty with the new truck.

You can get a GM extended warranty up until the factory runs out. Buy it then. Whats even worse is to get the extended warranty at purchase then finance it in.

Last one I bought was on a 97 ford 1500$, I had an 80$ part failure they wouldn't cover. That ended my extended warranties and purchases of Fords.

That's kind of an **** approach to the topic. Not everyone has the cash to spend on a warranty. And furthermore if you have the cash on hand it will be safer to purchase the warranty the same time you do the vehicle. A few years afterward prices will probably inflate. Plus its easier to make a deal when you are spending an extra $30k or more.
