Third brake light problems.

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum. I have a 2007 chevy Silverado 1500 LS. I am having a problem with my third brake light. It was on when the truck is running and now it's not working when the truck is running. All other lights work except the third brake light. It works when I apply the brake but stays off. Changed the bulbs and still nothing. Fuse looks fine as well. Idk what it could be. Any help would be awesome. Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "It works when I apply the brake but stays off"?? So does it work with applying brakes or no??

Yeah it works when the brake is applied. But I got a remote start on it and when I start it usually the third brake light stays on. Atleast it used to always light up. Like the running lights. Unless Its not supposed to be on or something.

As far as I know the third brake light should only be coming on when the brakes are applied. It doesn't contain a circuit for running lights that I know of.

Sounds like the stop lamp switch may be acting up or the remote (if its aftermarket) is somehow tied into the switch and may be causing it to light. Should only come on when the brakes are applied.
