My Wheel Project

Spurshot

Nice wheels spurshot. If the center cap is staying black then I would chrome the bead lock and use black bolts or black the ring and chrome the bolts. Either way the contrast looks good. I also liked the original black/anthracite wheel pic.

And since we are giving away opinions, I'm on the fence about black wheels. Sometimes I like em and sometimes I dont, but the best looking ones are the various factory GLOSS black wheels. I appreciate the purpose of plasti-dip, but generally I think it looks like poo on wheels. Or most of the all flat black black wheels for that matter, they need contrast or its very blah. I think the gloss black adds its own contrast. I do think its a generational thing, and at 43 I must be caught in the middle.

Yeah, the colored rings are out there. I have been thinking along the lines of either gold cad bolts or black bolts on the all chrome wheel. The black bolts make more sense.

Again I say white rings. I think thats subtle enough and ties everything in with a nice custom touch, whereas any other color will just scream that it's out of place.

I still say stay chrome or go black, but they do look great in chrome… Can't wait to see them on…

I'm leaning toward what Ten7 said above. All chrome wheel/ring and black bolts. I ordered some flanged black phosphate bolts and black nylon washers from McMaster-Carr. Even if I go all crazy and color the ring, I'm going with black bolts.

I'm amazed at all the people that wanna put black rims on your truck! Who cares, it's your truck, do what you want. I'm curious to see the outcome of this project. I do thing white rings would be a nice, subtle touch.

I had the wheels installed this morning. Still don't have bolts in the rim. Bolts are still in UPS from McMaster-Carr.

I'm really pleased with the fit and look.

I like the chrome and I personally think white rings would look great!

So I am curious what the chrome process cost if you don't mind me asking?

They look tiny.

They're an inch bigger than the Raptor 17" wheels with their 35 tires. music-smiley-019.gifsmiley_quickdraw.gif Besides...it's a big truck. I'm not a big fan of big wheels.

Paramount Wheel charges $135/wheel. I'm probably going to leave them as is, after I add the black bolts.
