Ordered 2015 Sierra Denali

I ordered the 22s when I ordered the truck. I dealt directly with the General Manager of the dealership as he's a good friend of a friend. He said it would be a better deal for them to take delivery of the truck w/ the OEM wheels and he only charged me his cost for the black 6-spoke 22s, then gave me his credit from GMC for returning the OEM wheels. It ended up costing me a whole bunch less than the cost of swapping the wheels for the truck build on the GMC build-and-price website.

Sorry, I should've been more clear. My 22s were technically ordered via the parts dept, just via the GM of the dealership at his cost.

Just got offline with gm chat, my truck is now at 3400. Gm chat wasn't able to give much more information which is pretty frustrating. Hopefully it won't be to long before there is more info and I will get a date on when the truck will be ready

Do you know the TPW?

When I talked to chat late dec they said it was 1/19 and when I chatted today they said 1/12. Called the dealer and he said should be built in a couple of days... kinda felt like he was blowing smoke to get me off the phone

Got the vin today and was told it is in qa. Ordering hasn't actually been that bad, ordered mid dec and gm chat has kept me in the loop pretty well. 3GTU2WEJXFG260944
Stacie [11:16 AM]: Welcome! Thank you for chatting with us today. How may I assist you?
Josh S [11:16 AM]: Just an update on my order SHBFMZ
Stacie [11:17 AM]: Give me a few moments to look into that for you.
Stacie [11:19 AM]: Thank you for holding. As of right now I am seeing that the vehicle is at 3400, broadcast. I am showing that you did have a target production week of 1/12, however it does not look like they have updated this information as of yet. If you give me a few more moments I can see if our order department can tell me any other information.
Josh S [11:20 AM]: sure
Stacie [11:22 AM]: Thank you for holding. The order department was able to confirm that the vehicle has been produced, it is just updated in our system as of what day. I do have the vehicles VIN, would you like it?
Josh S [11:23 AM]: yes I would. Can you also give me a little bit of info on what the next step is and what I can expect
Stacie [11:26 AM]: What you can expect from here is that the vehicle will stay at the plant to undergo the quality inspection process and be loaded to a full carrier before departing. Your vehicle will then travel, likely by railcar, to a vehicle distribution center in your region, and then transfered to a truck to bring it the rest of the way to the dealership. Your vehicles VIN is going to be 3GTU2WEJXFG260944.
Josh S [11:28 AM]: so the truck is built and complete? Is there an approximate time frame for the qa and delivery?
Stacie [11:29 AM]: If I could see when the vehicle was exactly produced, I would be able to provide you with a better timeline. However, if we just assume the vehicle was built today, it usually takes about 7-10 days to leave the plant. The distance that it has to go and the stop at the vehicle distribution center would add about two weeks to dealership.
Josh S [11:30 AM]: is it still at 3400? When should I check back
Stacie [11:31 AM]: In my system yes, because for some reason my system has not been updated. But because it has been verified as produced, it is at least at 3800 or 4000.
Josh S [11:32 AM]: Should i check back in a couple of days or how long should I wait before the next update?
Stacie [11:33 AM]: I would say to check back at the end of the week, just to see what has changed. I have in your notes that our system is not showing the update but the order departments is, so whatever agent you get should be able to call and get the most up to date information.
Josh S [11:34 AM]: k thanks for the great info. Have a good rest of the day. yippeee

Stacie [11:34 AM]: You are very welcome. Have a wonderful day!!!

anyone know how long gm's QA process usually takes? Still in quality and I can't get any more information from chat, still wondering how long till I get the truck

Posted

Just a guess here, but with the early issues they've been having with the new 8-spd transmission, the QA process may be slightly longer to ensure the fixes/changes in place are working.

It's possible it's further along, but the information hasn't been updated.

Hopefully you'll get the dealer call soon.

Just got offline with gm chat, appears I'm ready to ship

Your vehicle is available to ship and is awaiting the carrier for transport. Your VIN is 3GTU2WEJXFG260944. The order event number is 4000 which is available to ship.

Gonna be nice, hopefully I don't get screwed and lose the almost 3k of rebates in feb

Congrats!

I've heard that once a VIN and invoice are generated, the dealership can do the paperwork on the vehicle. If you're getting near the end of February, and the truck isn't in, I'd ask them to write it up.

apparently Denalis have an extra set of QA that they go through. (unless the dealer is full of it) So my truck went to shipped to waiting to be shipping (in QA) to finally shipped again on the 14th. 4000 to 4200 to 4000 and now finally 4200 again.

GM chat told me it is on the ship from mexico to WA State, so hopefully I will get it in the next week or so

Wow - it's been 4 weeks since it was built and it still isn't at the dealership? You must be going nuts!

Interestingly, SLT crew cabs with VINs ending in 264xxx and up have been at stores since at least last week. If they are assembled in numeric sequence, perhaps Denalis do go through some extra quality assurance.

For comparison, my Honda Odyssey was built on 8/5/10 in Alabama and I took delivery a mere 9 days later on 8/14/10 - and that was after a dealer trade!
