Ld2040 leaves the ports open but uses the pocket space.

I was thinking I would get the key lock as it seems quicker but if the combo locks are just as quick and have equal security I might go that route.

 

Which of the lock types is more secure?

I would think a fingerprint lock would be even quicker. I have a nitestand safe that uses this type of mechanism. Anyone know if there is a manufacturer that makes one with this option?

Bringing this back from the dead but has anyone got one if these with the tray that bridges the file hangers in the photo? The tray in talking about has a coin holder and then second tray with a hidden pocket.

If your talking about that tray and the vault together in the console. I doubt they both fit together in there. Look at the pics on page 1 of this post. It looks like both options are level with the power port and usb plugs so no room for the tray to drop in.

Apologies for the thread revival. I just received mine today and installed it (under seat console version). The construction is really good (heavy/thick) and I love the strong hinge springs. If I keep the safe unlocked while driving and the console lid closed, the safe lid lifts right up when opening the console (lifting the seat).

 

My only concern is that for someone whose seen these before, stealing the safe seems like it would be relatively simple by just cutting the 4 mounting screws or prying them with a large screw driver. These can be accessed easily enough by wedging between the safe and the plastic sides of the console.

 

Maybe it's not as easy as it seems (?!) but I'm still considering drilling a few holes through the base on the inside and attaching the bottom into place rather than using the small and easy to access screws in the sides.

 

Anybody who has one of these see it any different?
