How much additional wheel/tire weight is too much?

I'm looking at a new set of wheels and tires. I think I have the tires picked out I want but I am still stuck between 3 wheels. My stock setup (LTZ 20's and Duelers) weights about 83 lbs. Of all the wheel/tire combos I'm considering, the most they weight over stock is about 13 lbs, so that's roughly 52 lbs total over stock. Is that going to have that much of a negative affect on performance and mileage?

I think I'm sticking with the stock 275/55's but might go with 275/60's. I know by going with the 60's it will affect performance and mileage a little but the weight of just the tire itself is close enough to the 55's that it won't matter much in that regard. Plus I don't think that an inch larger tire is going to have that much of a visual impact between the two.

So, is 50ish pound addition on wheels/tires going to have a negative affect on the truck?

Depending on your gearing, you will probably be ok going up a tire size.

As for the extra weight, don't believe that will be to much. I have gone from a stock P245/75/15 to LT285/75/16's (stock rims) on a 2K 4.8/4spd/3.73 ecsb. While a touch slower, it wasn't a huge difference.

The wheels I'm considering are the Fuel Boost or Hostage. I was originally looking the new BFG KO2s but now also considering the Duratracs. If I went with the Duratrac (and up a size) with the Boost, I would actually still weight the same as the stock setup.

Decisions, decisions.
