Debadged/Dechrome/Colormatched Picture Request

Haha, years of indecisiveness will do that to yah!

 

I've got Adobe Photoshop on my personal computer at home, but I've got to work with what I have on the computer at work!

 

Yeah I've always been a fan of black on black on black... which I think still looks great, but is starting to get a little "played out".

Just trying to convince myself that a small amount of chrome can look good and break up the black a little.

Our trucks look very similar! If you want to see what the black all terrain looks like without the running boards have a look at my gallery.

Right now I have the same dilemma as you...I'm deciding on how much chrome I want to remove. I agree that a full black out is getting played out. Thanks for the photoshop pics, definitely gives a great visual.

 

So far, Ive replaced my chrome mirror caps to black ones, removed the All Terrain grille off the tailgate and plasti dipped the Sierra badge to black. Once it warms up I'm going to plasti dip the chrome door trim and most likely leave the window trim and handles chrome.

Truck looks great so far!

If I had black wheels I'd probably completely strip all the chrome or maybe just leave the door molding if you wanted a little chrome to flow with the grill.

 

I've seen a couple trucks with just the window trim chrome and the rest black, didn't think it looked good at all personally.

 

Do you miss not having the running boards? I find myself using them occasionally getting out, but never getting in.. haha

Whoa!those are some serious trucks! I'll wait till spring and slowly pasti dip the chrome little by little. The good thing about dipping is that you can peel it off if you don't like it I'm leaning towards chrome handles and window trim.

 

To be honest, I couldn't wait to get the running boards off! I would bang my leg every time getting in and out. I came from a 3/2 leveled Tundra without boards so the height of the Sierra is a breeze. Your truck looks great. I wanted the RC 2.5 initially but the wait was too long so I opted for the Pro comp 2.25. Really happy with it so far.

I have the exact same truck. In color matched the handles and mirrors. Shaved all emblems except the all terrain ones on doors I painted the red black and left the chrome strip on the window sills. 3m carbon fiber on the gmc emblem in grill. Pm your niner if u want I can send you some pics.

Jay what is the best way to color match mirrors and handles? Can you paint them or do you just remove them completely and buy new caps and handles. I've never changed chrome to ptm other than fully replacing bumpers on an old truck. Little too much chrome on these for me as well

I replaced the door handles and mirror caps. Then I sold the chrome ones. It's easier and cheaper too buy them already painted.

I agree it's not worth trying to paint the stock chrome stuff, better off buying black and then selling the chrome like Jay did.

If I go this route, I may get my chrome vinyl wrapped gloss black. When done properly it looks as good as paint and can be removed if I really wanted too.

Hey guys chrome or no chrome GM has the best looking truck on the road. I love my sierra SLT z71 4x4. What do you guys think of the new ford, I just saw a new ford raptor on the lot the other day and could not believe the price $ 72.889 for an aluminum tin can. Sorry about that just my opinion. You guys rock love your trucks.

Here's one at a local dealership... bone stock other than all the chrome on the sides and running boards have been removed, but left the AT badges.

That looks good. Did they replace that chrome strip on the side with a black one or is that just what it looks like when the strip is off.

Other than lucking out on eBay for mirror caps and door handles, I guess from GM is the only other option? Vinyl wrapping isn't a bad idea either
