Hozer Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Has anyone else noticed a Chevrolet bowtie logo in the DIC of their GMC during initial screen start up? When I unlock the door and then open it, the DIC and the 8" infotainment screen are both in the startup stages and showing logos. This weekend, I happened to notice that the DIC has the bowtie logo during the initial start up. Has anyone else seen this? Is there perhaps a software update the corrects this? It's obviously not a functional issue but it is an OCD issue! My truck is a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab. It was on the dealer lot in January of 2014 but sat until I grabbed it in late November. I'm hoping this was just an early software load and is fixed in newer releases.
haider320 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 A while back, there was an ecu update. Dealers updated customers trucks and vehicles which were still on the dealer lot. I forget what the update was for. Basically, your dealer is an idiot and uploaded the update for a Chevy instead of the GMC update. It won't hurt anything except for having the chevy stuff on the dic and radio screen. Just go back to the dealer and have them upload the correct software.
haider320 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Also, is the dic blue or red? Blue is Chevy, red is GMC.
chuckl1218 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 The update was called the "peek in" update. There was an issue under some conditions where the odometer mileage shown at "peek in" (or when you open the door, prior to inserting key and turning to acc or start) did not match the running odometer mileage reading. There was a software update that was "challenging" for some dealers where they downloaded the wrong splash screen. My dealer fixed a GMC that had a Cadillac splash screen.
SouthernSilveradoGuy85 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 The dealer's service guy was just lazy when updating it and didn't care to mention that they screwed up. They're supposed to go off the VIN and some just used whatever they had. Go in and show them and they'll fix it.
Hozer Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 @Haider320, it is blue rather than red. Thanks for the info everyone. I'll set up an appointment at the local dealer and get them to update it.
Clocked92 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I almost wish my truck had the blue silverado radio screen with its customization options. Might look funny with all the other red lights though.

I remember someone saying they bought the Chevy just because they liked the blue instead of red and I kind of went "wow, that was the deciding factor?" lol. It probably wasn't, but seemed like from how he said it.

Hozer Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 Go the DIC flashed to the GMC variant yesterday. Feeling much better about it now. New wheels arrived on Monday and the tires go on sale in two weeks so the look keeps getting better.
