Header Bolts?

Recommended Posts

Okay so I'm looking at adding a set of BBK headers to my trucks new engine. I've always read/heard that Stage 8 makes a good header bolt, and was looking for those, but I can't seem to find any. Chris the Community Manager here suggested that I go with ARP, which I have no problem with doing. Problem is I can't find anything they make that will fit either. Before I call Summit or Jegs does anyone else here have any information on what I need?

I am reusing mine when I replace on my car. I have less than 5K miles

I was looking at these

Yep, those are what I saw originally, just can't find info verifying that they'll fit my engine. I take it they will, just don't want to guess. What type of gasket are you thinking of going with? Anything special?

Aren't all LS based engines using the same bolts when it comes to headers?

I would think so, but they only list certain LS series engines when I pull up the bolts...

Okay. I've read that using copper gaskets help them seal better without leaks. Didn't know if you were going that route or not.

Everyone swears by the stock gaskets for the camaros

Stock gaskets are sturdy enough for the GM emmissions warranty, something to think about.

Far as bolts, it's not like a gen1 or gen 2 motor where the bolts need tiny heads and are a bear to tighten. Just use a sturdy bolt, if ARP makes you feel better go for it.

Bolts are NOT actually that critical, bolts don't loosen, many gaskets compress with heat cycles which is what causes the bolt to no longer be torqued and then they can rattle out.

I see. That explination actually helps me out a lot. Now I just need to find the correct thread. Every website that lists regular exhaust bolts tells me it's a 10mm thread, but all my results for ARP give me 8mm threads.
