2007 Silverado Starting Issues

New user here, now that's out of the way, I am having starting problems with my pickup. I have taken it to 2 chevy service centers and 2 independent local garages and no one can figure it out.

Truck is 2007 Silverado LT, 4.8L.

Problem started about 10 months ago, making clicking noises followed by a metal noise. Problem only happened occasionally. Past month has happened more often and worse. Sometimes truck loses all juice, seems like battery is disconnected. Pop hood truck comes back to life. Can explain more if needed.

Here is a video, any ideas?

Someone told me maybe it's the starter, and someone else said maybe the flywheel?

If it were me, and the starter hasn't been replaced yet, I would definitely pull it and have it tested.

It's two bolts and two electrical connections. Once it's off you can visually inspect the flywheel as well.

Definitely sounds like a starter to me and as said above it sounds like the gear is sticking.

Thanks for the help to everyone, had a new starter put in today. Mechanic said the flywheel looked great. Going to pick it up in a few minutes, hopefully that was the problem.

Good stuff! Glad it was a simplish fix.
