purchasing a 2015 Sierra SLT All Terrain tomorrow night(probably)

Ive been missing my Yellow (04 i think) Avalanche for years....had a Toyota Sienna, now a Chevy Traverse.....the kids are getting older and out of all their car seats, so i think its time to get back into a big truck again......sad to see the Avalanche gone.......dont like the Silverado front end or colors.....like the GMC Sierra a bit.....then i saw a All Terrain Sierra....BAM.....it hit me as a truck i want

Found one 1 hour away...SLT,crew cab, short box, Iridium Metallic, sun roof, Nav.....price is fair (-7300) off sticker with rebates.....most are listed for -7500 off right now....saw 1 for -8500 off

questions:

how does the Iridium metallic hold up to scratches? (i am not a black fan because of swirls)....i do think the truck looks best in black and dark colors though....the dealer also has a red one-same options/price....but it reminds me of my Sienna Minivan...sooo many minivans in maroon...dont like red fading, but in a truck it would stand out more....dont want white(dirt).....Blue would be good, but cant find one with similar options..only SLE's

is the ride similar to my Avalanche? from the reviews it sounds even better...i know HP has increased significantly over my 04

Mileage from the 5.3? real world?......we average 15 out of our traverse awd...which i think is horrible....sticker says we can get 25mpg i think...but never got close even with cruise control on....even went to the dealer to check to see if the brakes were rubbing or whatever could be giving us such low mpg.......our old Avalanche got 15mpg for us.....i have hopes of 18mpg average...i am lead footed, but the wife isnt

bed liner/tonneau cover??....im considering the Gator FX3 tonneau cover for $849 (reminds me most of our avalanche)------considering the bed rug for $379(we have light use....groceries, bikes, etc)..i have a large cube work van for the heavy stuff

since their internet price is already spot on within a couple hundred i assume we will make the deal...its all about trading in a 2011 traverse......KBB is $14,500-14,750......was offered $13,000 by another GMC dealer...they always have their own book and low ball.......its just so annoying....all the BS/back and forth....ive gotten full KBB, but it takes 1 hour of haggling and 8x back and forth....i am hoping for an easy time tomorrow night....

The paint on these new trucks is remarkably thin....Prepare for dings and scratches on the front end.

Well your avalance was coil springs all around. The truck will have coils up front and leafs outback. It will still ride good, but not as "tight" feeling since there is no rear sway bar on the trucks with leaf spring rear ends. You could add one aftermarket though.

I average 16-17 in the summer in suburban driving. I've seen 21-22 on long highway stretches though, driving around 70. Winter mileage goes down to 14-15 around town, and around 20 on the highway.

I like the extang trifeca cover. and I like Line-X bed liner.

You'll like the truck. Good luck with the buying experience.

i already have contacted a clear bra installer....i have 2 other 'special' cars i own that id like it to be added to....i found a guy who comes right to your house...i figure do all 3 vehicles at once....i have already read about all the bumper chips....ill handle that issue immediately

the trifeca cover is all soft...i prefer the hard plastic panel look of the gator fx3...reminds me of the avalanche look....2x the cost of your recommendation though.....it will have to stand up to WI snow...the Gator fx3 handles 400lbs....

thanks

$3,250 in rebates right now

might be $500 additional in autoshow bonus to add to it

i also have $2k off for the gm card

from checking kbb i should be right at invoice with the dealer -$4,250

i saw some posts for how much they paid and it did seem most got a better deal...but that was early Feb and i think the rebate are now lower on 2015's

should i expect under invoice? (typically i buy $400-500 over invoice + incentives).....at $-4250 they are already at or under invoice

wanted to get a 2014 AT, but they are all gone or hard to find...wanted the $8k GMC rebate

Posted

rechecked it....its $4500 in rebates and it includes the autoshow bonus

Dealer is taking another $2800 off

sticker $51,795----sell price $44,495 (internet price)

true car says invoice is $48,920 = $2875.......so they are right at invoice

can you expect better than $75 over invoice on a brand new 2015 right now?

they are (-7300 off) right now and the best i found is (-8500 off) at another dealer....so obviously i can use that proof against them to try to get -8500.......but until you see the trade in value it means nothing.....they can give me a high trade in or a low one....which F's with the whole equation....my 2011 Traverse is worth $17-18k on the open market......the last GM Dealer offered $13,000 to start

i really want $14,500-14,750 and -8500 off sticker....

It looks like you're about $2,500 off of where you want to be. You can probably get closer. Give them your offer and see what they say. If they say no, walk away and wait a day or two. The trick is not to be in a rush. If you miss out on a particular truck, another one will turn up. My deal was a little better than you described, but the rebates were better at the end of January. You're right about the trade in value. The only number that matters is the amount of the difference between your trade in value and the price they charge you for the new truck. They can offer a big discount off of the new truck but if they lowball you on the trade in, the discount doesn't mean much. Good luck.

you can do better if you find a gm employee that will share their rebates with you. or just save yourself the hassle and do gm supplier discount from your bank, costco, or anywhere like usaa. its probably the same you're talking about paying, and a lot less work on your part to hunt down "deals" based on msrp.

I'm working deals for the exact same truck at three dealers right now. All MSRP at 51.2-51.7k. Dealers are discounting between $3500 - $4750, rebates for me here are only $1750. I'm guess Feb. sales are going to be tanked due to the nearly nationwide bad weather this month. I'm holding out until next month to see if rebates get better.

Are you USAA/Farm Bureau or a credit union member? You'll get extra discounts, plus you should get $1,000 GM loyalty for the Traverse. Or are you including that as part of the $4500?

Posted

yes the $1000 loyalty is already applied

if i can get the dealer to -$4k off sticker and a decent trade ($14,000 range) the deal will be done

i may find a better deal somewhere, but this truck is optioned the way i want....so i dont want to lose it.....with this crap weather here in WI i dont see many sales for them this week.....im not one to F around with dealers....if they dont do the deal with me tomorrow i wont be back...ill move on to another.....problem is all the others are SLE's or Black/white which i dont want

we will be within $1000 of each other i suspect right from the start

if i can show them another dealer giving $1200 more off a similar truck (AT) 5 miles away wouldnt you think they'd match it?

and i know they have some wiggle room on trades.....sad to say my Traverse isnt worth what i think it should be.....

im excited as hell

even got the wife excited about this one.....went out today in -15 windchill to look at colors....dealership didnt put their trucks on their lot....note on front door said they had a remote lot, but didnt say where....drove around for 5 mins in the area and found it.....finally got to see all the colors in person....even brought a clean cloth and some detail spray incase i needed to wipe them down to see the sparkle...lucky they were all clean...
