I have an all terrrain in irdium! love the color, went from a black 06 silverado to this and it is a lot easier to care for and seems to resist swirls or at least not show them like black did

Test drive it at night if possible. Many owners complain about the headlights output. Dark rural roads it doesn't seem to have very good lighting, but I've driven worse. Love my Sierra.

I traded a 2007 Avalanche in for mine. I do miss the flip-down bed wall (came in handy on a cross-country road trip - easy place to lie down and take a nap!) but otherwise, the Sierra is a HUGE upgrade.

I added a Bakflip VP bed cover and a WeatherTech bed mat. My truck is white so I did the bed mat vs. a spray-in liner simply because the white side walls of the bed light up nice with the LEDs.

Oh yeah forgot to add - pretty much the same as nards above. 16-16.5 as a 50/50 mix of highway and stop/go, and ~20 on the highway. So far this has all been cold weather (upper Midwest), haven't owned the truck in warm weather yet.

get the 6.2 if you can, after a custom tune and everything else stock i get 22 highway at 60-65, and 20 highway at 75. 14-15 town if i'm not being gentle.

bought the truck

i contacted 6-8 dealers via email over the weekend...they all called me back...except for 1...(the one i wanted)

one guy called me 8x today...trying to make the deal...he had a black w/ same options...even offered a free spray bed liner

so i had to call the dealership myself, since they didnt respond to emails....first time i got voice mail.....called again 1 hour later...got passed to 3 salesmen.......talked for a bit...told him to wash the truck and get it ready because i was coming at 5pm and if the deal was made i wanted to drive it home......he calls me back 10 mins later and says it may be sold already...that he has offers already on the car with 2 other salesmen....he wants a downpayment over the phone to lock it in....WTF.....im irritated as hell.....i want to skip the deal.....buuuut its the only one in irridium with the options i want within 200 miles....and my $2000 gm card is only good for a couple more days........

i was rethinking the whole thing as we got ready to go out the door to the dealership(1.5 hour drive)......i had 2nd thoughts towards the guy who kept calling me....he was fighting for my business.......he was making better deals and trying to help.........i just dont want black w/o sparkles in the paint...

so i show up at the dealer......there's an irridium truck sitting right in front...all washed....its not a All Terrain.....the stupid sales guy didnt even pick the right truck.....

test drove the right truck..liked it...bouncier than my avalanche, but most likely the leaf springs vs the AV's coils.....

now for the deal time......he asked what i wanted for my trade....KBB is $13,500, another dealer said $13,000.....i asked for $14k....i want to make the deal fast since its now 6:00 and they close at 7pm...i dont want to drive back, i want to drive home with my new truck

they come back with their 1st offer....$14k trade in...great...they deducted $2k GM card, but instead of listing it seperate they added it into the # with the dealer discount.....and -$1500 from their internet offer....WTF......and when i tried to explain to him whats going on he just couldnt understand that it was $4500 in rebates, $2k gm card and $2800 dealer discount (which they were now giving me $1300...it wasnt written out clear at all...all confusing.......i had to call for a manager...wife said she saw a vein poping out of my neck...i was PO'd

Salesman goes back......manager comes...i explain....he comes back 15 min later......gives same # off truck as before from dealer ($1300), but now jacks up the rebates... .the deal is now back to internet price, but in an odd way.....WTF..........since i was getting $1k extra on the trade i simply asked for mudd flaps for free and we shook hands

so i got $-9300 off sticker + free mud flaps and -$1k extra trade in.....my trade in has some issues they didnt notice most likely.......so in the end i got a decent deal

the accountant had already gone home at this point....so we couldnt finalize the financing......so i filled out all the paper work and they agreed to drive my new truck to my home tomorrow....also they need to get the mud flaps and put them on....

worst salesman i ever delt with....he was an ex vet, so i cut him some slack, but the guy was just dense......he couldnt add up $4500 in rebates when i pointed them out to him right on the screen....did simple math and showed him how the dealership just gave me a worse deal than they advertised online.....he never got it....

he asked for a good review...i want to tear into him....wife says to be nice--he may have a family to support

ordered my Bedrug and Bakflip g2 tonight

looked into getting a full clear bra....1st call back was $1000 for everything...grill,hood,doors,bumper......i need to shop around

whats a good price for it? should i bother with the hood/doors?

should i wrap the rear bumper?

thanks everyone for all the advice

i would have bought from any other dealership, but this one had THE TRUCK.....so i had no choice

I had an equally angering experience when ordering my truck. Salesperson and floor manager did not see their mistake and when I elevated it to the Sales Manager he started swearing at the other two for making the mistake. Overall just a very unprofessional experience. IMO you should give the salesperson an honest review, good or bad. He may have a family support, but that is no excuse. Do a good job get a good review, do a bad job get a bad review. I've already been typing up my review on my ordering experience in anticipation of the survey that I'll get. I'm trying to make it sound as professional as possible while still pointing out all the issues I had, won't do any good if I rant and name call etc..

Congrats.

You may want to look at the long term affects of a clear bra by 3M. I had it on 07 Silverado. It yellows overtime, creates spider cracks, and in my case, took the paint off with it when it was professionally removed (I was warned prior to its removal). I decided to use Plastidip clear with the Glossifier on this truck due to its thin paint.

Posted

i will look into the plastidop and glossifier...i want to move quickly since its winter here....if its going to get chipped its going to happen NOW

i also thought bout getting the 3m spay can and doing it myself

i will post a pic tonight when i actually have the truck...expected delivery is mid afternoon...the wife will be taking the keys...i gave her a list of things to look for conditionwise.....ive seen damaged new vehicles and want to make sure no dents,scratches....for $50k im going to be fussy

bought from Stark GMC of Stoughton.....a friend had a great experience there...just not me.....but i guess my deal was just fine in the end...just poor service...i would never buy from them again (unless they had the only truck in 200 miles i wanted)

salesman was supposed to deliver my truck today....got a call at noon......he cant make it...has another appointment at 4:30 and cant make our 3pm time......asked if i was ok without him coming and not going over the truck...WTF.....i let it go...but have decided to be 100% truthful when i get the on line review....i was going to cut him some slack.....not anymore

truck is here.....its awesome.....calling around today for clear bra or Xpel (looks like more locals install Xpel)...1st quote was $1000 for the whole truck...or $650 for just the front......seeing as the bottoms of the doors have the rough/textured paint i wonder if i need the doors done...also the hood.......do i need the doors hood?......i plan on the front end and the back bumper

i have to spend a couple of hours tonight reading the manual.

funny thing....we were so worried about width....we have a car lift, so it doesnt have a full 1/2 garage space....we measured probably 10x....never check height or length....then i see it in my driveway....my worker told me it looks like it will hit the top of the garage(lucky it doesnt)....but length----almost a different story.....we have a normal 2 car garage...as normal as possible for 1980......i did check length from something in found online...it showed i had 2'+ extra space....i pull the truck in....i have 5" or less......still happy, but what if my garage was 6" less....id have a new truck i couldnt fit.........now to park we have to go in/out in/out to get it just right....also we lost access to our door into the house....open the door and BAM you'd hit the truck...i will be screwing the door closed and we have to walk around and use the back door now...

    • The truck is a 1995 Chevrolet S10 Blazer, 4.3 VIN "W" engine. :cracks knuckles:   On a whim - because I needed a headache - this truck was for sale so I stopped to take a look. Doesn't run. Well, it does, but barely. Long crank, choppy idle, bad misfire(s), it REEKS of fuel. I can DO this..I'm thinking. Diamond in the rough. One owner until last year. A young guy is selling it, he bought it 6 months ago. It stranded him more than once, he's got a newborn. It was in the shop 10 days ago and he "thinks" they said it needs a new fuel injection system. He can't put any more money into it, needs it gone. I was thinking of upgrading my Macbook, which is a total want, not a need. For less than the price of a new laptop I can have fun for months tinkering on this truck and enjoying it. I'm taking this truck home. The guy was beyond thrilled, his wife was there, she thanked me profusely, I could tell they were hurting. They seemed like good people in a bind.   Some parts, a wash, maybe a set of tires, and I can have a few months of fun and then turn it for beer money (or the next project).   Sure enough, there's a work order from a shop last week in the INCHES of paperwork on this truck dating back to when the first owner bought it. They put a new distributor in it, fuel injection work describes basically opening the plenum and putting it back together. He said he couldn't afford any more work so he had them button it up and that's when he put it up for sale.   I'm not well versed in 4.3. I did discover 1995 uses the 1992-1995 SCPI "Spider" injector which is riddled with issues from splitting lines, clogged or cracked poppet valves and plastic spider legs that crumble over time. Cool. I'll just order me a ne---. Oh, the auto parts store doesn't have it? Rock Auto doesn't have it. eBay? $$$$$$ for used. These are UNAVAILABLE period end of story unless you know "a guy" who's still got one in a box somewhere.   Can't upgrade to the '96-'04 injector, it's a different plenum, wiring/pinout and sensor config.   There are a few kinda "know a guy" -guy rebuild services for these injectors out there for about $350. Okay, Okay... I'd like to know if anyone has used them? Anyone got a lead on these crappy 92-95 spiders?   I also don't want to send MY spider to Narnia and back without knowing if that's truly the problem. I guess I'll need to pull apart the plenum and do some digging.   I was also thrown for a loop. This 1995 model year truck has an OBD-II connector. The interface is decidedly not OBD-II. I can read and reset trouble codes and view live data, but there's not a lot of data. Like misfire count and on what cylinder, that's not there. It's OBD-1.5.   Nothing is ever easy. Now it makes sense why this guy wanted to disappear this thing for cheap. I'm guessing the shop told him the injector is toast, the part is unobtainable and they're not going to sort sending the thing to a rando offering rebuild service on craigslist, and the kid likely can't be without a working car for 3 weeks even if they'd facilitate that.   Experience with these early SCPI's? Stories? Things to check? Sympathy? (..Nah...)   This can sit until I sort it. But I haven't had a problem with a vehicle I couldn't easily solve in a long time.
    • I have four that read by the dash 8 to 10% better than miles/pump calculations and I have one that is spot on.
    • The average lifespan of automobiles on the road is increasing - here's why
    • Typically it is the Torque Converter, I have a 2.7L Trail Boss and between 25-65 MPH at 1300-1500 rpms under light throttle it has a shudder which I almost consider and bobble or a gargle sound. They replaced my TC but it did not help any, others say it has fixed their issues. It has been back twice now with no fix after.
