2015 Denali Hd Paint Problems

Hello all,

My name is Tony. I just bought a 2015 Gmc Denali Hd, Onyx black.

I have about 2000 miles and already have paint issues. I noticed clear bubbles through out my paint. It looks as if the clear coat is coming off. I checked my vin# for the dreaded z and no z. My truck was built after August 15, the second build for 2015. I read some of the other posts and I know that GM has offered to fix the affected areas. Well who is to say what areas are affected. Every day I notice a new spots. I know that I will not agree to spot painting my new $70,000 Denali. I have been a loyal customer of GM. This has been my second Denali Hd and I have owned several Chevrolet ltz crew cabs (4 within the last year) and have never had an issue like this. Does anyone have a story with a happy ending?

I can tell you best thing would be to find a good dealer- hopefully that means who you bought the truck from. I complained about how ridiculously easy the painted front bumper chipped on my 2014 all terrain- I bought it in sept and after 1 winter it had more paint chips than the 08 G8GT I traded in for it that had 130,000 miles- no. Exaggeration, and that car had poor paint too!

I think the issue is they use the same steel bumper they use on the regular chrome models, should be a different paint process or have a plastic skin rather than just paint right over

Anyhow- I complained and they re painted the entire front end, then clear bra'd the front bumper @ cost ($200)

70k for a truck and paint issues i'd be livid.... See what the dealer wants to do but if that doesnt get the results you want get the state involved... I know in maine they have something like 3 attempts to fix the issue before it's considered a lemon.

these paint problems seem to be popping up pretty frequently... i would be extremely upset if the paint was chipping off of my denali and i wouldnt want to have paint work done on a brand new truck

3000 miles on mine and several stone chips on my front bumper already. I also noticed a small area of primer bleed through (thin paint) on one of my cab pillars (rear driver side of cab).

An update with my paint issue. I called the dealership that I purchased the truck from explained to them what was going on, They informed me that since it would be covered under warrantee I could take it to the closest GM dealership, since I purchased my truck out of town. So I did exactly that. I took my truck to Mataga GM dealership. I spoke to the service manager. He looked over my truck and informed me that they do not have a in- house body shop and that they send it out. I expressed how I felt about anyone working on my Brand New Truck and asked if it would be possible to take it to my preferred body shop. The service manager said," No Problem your body shop has done work for us in the past. Have them write up an estimate and I will get it approved by GM." So I did exactly that. I took my truck to my body shop and they couldn't believe that the clear coat was bubbling up on a brand new truck. They informed me that there was a wrong way and a right way to correct this problem. In order to have the paint job that I thought I was buying would be to start over, strip and re-paint. That way I know for certain that the problem would be solved. So I took my $9,000 estimate and left it for the service manager. In the mean time I called the GM customer service line. I

spoke to someone who was trying to trouble shoot my clear coat problem. I then was transferred to a Lady named Sandra. She called Mataga spoke to the service manager and called me back. She informed me that the service manager said that he never told me to go and get an estimate from my body shop and that I only had two little bubbles. Well the truth is I have about two bubbles on every panel with more appearing daily. Sandra then said," if you think you are going to get a whole new paint job you are mistaken, that will never happen." I ended up hanging up on her. So now Im taking my truck back to the purchasing dealership so they can spot paint every panel on my truck. I think that they can keep it because I don't want a calico denali with no assurance that the rest of the clear wont bubble up.

Theres 2 ways to go about this... the way I described above... and the way your going about it...

Your way should render the results your looking for but you'll end up fighting an awful lot.

Lemon law you may end up with a brand spanking new vehicle.

Me? I'd bring it to the dealer every time there is a paint issue and make them give you an identical vehicle for a loaner... GM and dealer will get sick of it and eventually treat you right. Or they will deny you a rental/loaner and stop fixing it at which point you get an attorney or state involved.. Also contact your lender and inform them of the issue and see if you have any recourse with them. Could also contact your vehicle insurance company and see if they have any recourse for you.

I have a 2015 Silverado High Country HD and I had a 2014 High Country and BOTH had the same problem. Going to my selling dealer tomorrow so they can look at it. Will check back in to let everyone know what happened. We have 6 GM trucks in our fleet including a 2015 Denali HD, a Yukon Denali, and a Suburban. Out of all that only the 2 Silverado's have this issue.

I had thinning black paint under the clear coat on the rear cab pillars (both sides). Could see the primer through the clear coat. I took it to a GMC dealer that has a good body shop. They did a nice job painting the pillars and can't even notice the old from new. Under warranty.

I was a bit pissed but it worked out ok.

_{I bough a used 2015 Yukon Denali. My hood paint is faded and discolor into a bad shape. Roof top is discoloring also. GMC do a bad job of painting this 90k vehicle for sure. I'm not happy after five years and the color already distorted. Taking to the dealership for them to see about the bad paint on the hood and roof top? Hopefully they will do something about it. It's just bad business that the color don't even lasted five years or at least longer? I'm shaking my head right now.}
