I wouldn't buy it from a non gm dealer, the gm cert program is pretty good, now if u can get some kinda warranty similar to that I'd consider,

So is the general consensus that its not worth the risk? Being that there is so many gizmos and gadgets to go wrong?

I'm surprised gm's warranty is only 60,000 and not 100,000 like other manufacturers.

to buy GMPP your vehicle either has to be under factory warranty or done through the GM dealer you are buying it used through at the time of sale.

since its at a Ford dealership they will likely offer you a aftermarket extended warranty. some of those companies are tough to deal with, and replace parts with refurbs and aftermarket.

Ford's ESP plan is very comprehensive and they should have an option available. Some aftermarket companies are not good but you can read the policy and see what it covers.

Also, many GM dealers will sell you one in the business office even if you got it at another dealer it just has to be inspected by the service department first

I asked the local dealership today and they said only if it was purchased through them or if it was still under 60k.

ide buy a different truck. im sure you can find a similar one still under the B2B.

in canada we have something like 14k in credits on new trucks this month (if fully loaded).

try doing some negotiating with GM dealers. sacrifice a couple options but get new. thats what i did with my 14. actually i didnt really sacrifice any options, used SLE's with 100km (60 ish miles) were going for about 6 grand less than i paid new.

I'm pretty sure you can buy GM ext warranty even if your over the 60,000 kms mark but they will want to do an inspection on the truck at your cost. The drivetrain is still under warranty so they are likely not going to find anything wrong with it and if they do its covered anyway. I would talk to the local GM dealer, ext warranty does cost more as the kms go up.

I've already talked to my local gm dealer, I posted what they said above.

As for 14k off, maybe on 2014's and there are none left near me. I want an SLT and I've got the dealer down from $59k to $50k. Still out of my budget.

if this truck interests you let me know, ill set you up with someone in sales that can help you out.

it has a lift kit on it, im fairly sure its a 2.5" RC, Metal Mulisha rims, with 295/55/20 Mickey Thompson.

I live on the west side on Manitoba. Thanks for looking, but I am looking for something stock, not lifted. Sunroof, leather buckets with console.

This truck sounds a little expensive for the mileage. For comparison my dad bought his '06 LT in '07 with about the same mileage as this in the low 20k range. Out the door it was in the mid 20k range.

He even got an extended warranty for free that managed to cover his tranny and transfer case about a year later. 4k in expenses covered!

This works out to be $26,000 american. You are also talking about buying a previous generation truck when the new ones have come out, usually means you'll get a better deal, just like buying a 2014 f150 right now.

Not to mention you are talking about an lt, this is an slt which compares to an ltz.

You sir are a good man, thanks! Doesn't seem like there was anything major other than reprogramming and replacing license plate bulbs.
