GMC 1500 and a Liftmaster 8500 garage opener?

Does anyone have a lift master 8500 garage opener and a new Sierra? The learn function is not taking. I have three other vehicles where I have been able to get them programmed, but for some reason the Sierra isn't taking the learn. Those not familiar, the 8500 has rolling code security and a little challenging to program.

2 liftmaster 8550's with 2014 GMC AT, no problems, locked in first try, and worked fine since Oct 2014. Followed instructions in manual.

You're in luck. I figured it out some time ago. You have to clear ALL previously programmed remotes on the lift. Hold the learn button on the 8500 till the LED blinks. Like 9 seconds I think. Should program just fine after this. I banged my head again the wall for 2 months. The dealer even came to my house and tried to program himself. This was a last resort by Liftmaster tech support. Good luck! Sweet opener too btw.

Thanks so much. I love the opener and knew there had to be a solution. Just to clarify, after clearing with the learn button on the physical 8500, do I reprogram each open including the sierra by just using the standard learn button on the wall remote?

Yep. I started with a handheld, so I would have something to program the Sierra with. I always used the wall remote to program (remember to hit learn twice!!). Also, don't forget your keypad if u have one.
