The more and more i look at my truck the more and more i like it

Personally i think this change is gonna come back and bite gm in the butt.  I see a redesign by 2005

I think the GMC looks far better with the redesign ..the front end on the Silverado looks so out of sync with the rest of the truck that it is  :)

I like the interior mods...the steering wheel looks nice, just not so sure it is a "truck" wheel though....love the audio remotes feature.  Hope the dash doesn't sound like the hollow plastic shell that it currently is.  Otherwise, the plastic, radio, etc. can only be an improvement.

I like the looks of the quadrasteer equipped trucks shown on the homepage...they look pretty nice  :D I think the looks of the updated Silverado (Av) grille look better on the quadrasteer equipped truck, it doesn't look as out of place in my opinion.  But the Sierra...man, I'm lovin' the looks of that truck, I might just have to start saving for a 2003 Sierra equipped with quadrasteer...it's nice!  :) I'm wondering what that new, I think it was medium metallic blue color looks like...hmmm...might be easier to keep clean looking than the Indigo Blue metallic that I have...but it's still my fav. color!

I definitely like the new interiors on both trucks, and the exterior on the gmc.  I think I'm coming around to the silverado (I'm sure I will when I see one in person).  But did they make the improvements that we really want?  Is there a 6.0 under the hood?   :bored:

Oh well, maybe in a few years... :)

ewwww!  :)

This looks like crap!

-Sorry man, had to edit out the pics cause they are hosted on another media website.

I highly doubt there will ever be a 6.0 or any engine larger than the 5.3.  I am sure you are saying well how do you know.  Main reason is CAFE.  If gm goes with a larger engine in its half ton trucks it wont meet any of the requirements (i dont know what all they are).  There is only 1 half ton out there with a 6.0 (that was made by gm).  Guess who has it.  Jay Leno it was custom built for him.

I wouldnt get your hopes up for a larger engine choice cause it will probably never happen

I'm kinda mixed on the trucks themselves but I like the picture on the homepage!  That's CHICAGO!!!!  The tall one is the Aon Center (formerly Amoco Oil Building) and right next to it (the pointed one) is 2 Prudential Plaza.  I work two blocks away and have friends and family that work in each.  :)

The Silverado front is growing on me some too, the more I look at it.  It does look somewhat out of "sync", to quote an earlier post, with the rest of the unit, but I'll reserve judgement till I can see one in the flesh.

I like the GMC also - maybe will look into it for '03 rather than the silverado - don't know yet.

I also like the interior improvements, but was hoping for more change to the basic IP.  It does look like they tried to resolve issues/persnicketies(sp?) I've read in other forums, mags, etc. with the interior.  I definitely like the steering wheel controls, better sound and entertainment, and I hope the seats and new console are better.

I heard a rumor that there was to be substantial HP improvements in the engine line, but no mention of a change here.  Wonder if they would not commit this early (publicly) if they do plan to change it some.  Ryan has a point w/ CAFE issues, but sounds like now may actually be a better time, as I expect the CAFE limit will only get tougher over the next 3-5 years.

Overall, I'm impressed, and glad that GM seems to realize they can't mess too much with their "bread and butter", except to continue to improve it.  I hope they take a page from F**d and continue to refine what's already there, and not just keep offering new features.  You really need both approaches (IMHO).   :)  :D

theres no way I'm not getting one of those now,   thats my official statement..

no ram for me now,  no avalanche (well kinda),  I'll get the best of both worlds,  a front end ppl hate, and an avalanche clone..

now i just can't wait to test drive one.

I believe the current standard for CAFE is 27.5mpg and they want to raise it to 30mpg.

I can see something bigger than a 327 (5.3) making it's way into 1/2 tons if the next generation Vortec engines are more efficient in design than the current generation.

I agree cm, and gotta dissagree with ya ryan..

look at the truck model numbers..

the model with the crew cab, with quadrasteer  is marked up as the 1500HD  theres no way they are just gonna put a 5.3 in that bad boy.

I get 20mpg average with my 5.3,  theres not gonna be much difference on the 6L

I kinda like it, it's different, but I think all of us will get used to it after a little while.  Not as subtle as the 98-99 change for sure though.  I'm almost set in stone getting an '04, but if they put a 6.0 in a 1500 I'm definatly getting one ASAP! :)

yall need to read the coverage here on gmtc

"For Silverado and Sierra customers hungry for still more power, there’s the awesome 6.0-liter Vortec 6000 V8 engine. It produces 300 horsepower at 4400 rpm and 360 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm in Silverado 2500 HD and Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 models. Sierra Denali customers, meanwhile, are rewarded with 325 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 370 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm."

I think thats all that needs to be said about them adding it  LOL

I like them....love the interior changes, but I may be a poor judge ....since I would wear GM underwear if they made it. Didn't like HD'S at first either but you get use to them. How many great pictures of modes to HD's do you see on this site. Interesting to see what the AV owners think since the front end of the Chevy looks so much like the Avalanche.

My vote, go for it GM, lets be the ones changing and being leaders and lets keep going in sales and kick Ford and Dodges asses. No one will be able to say they didn't change any thing like they did when the 99's came out.
