A bad wreck here last night.

Last night a couple guys were helping someone push their car up to the gas station about 2-300 yards away.  They had just pushed it around a slow turn when a lady who was talking on a cell phone (who shouldn't have been on base anyway because she was not a dependent and had no pass to get on base.) ran into the back of them.  One guy got out of the way in time, but still had a few injuries.  The other guy took the full hit and lost one leg on the scene, broke the other and had some type of head injury.  They had to air lift him out, to Columbia, SC I think.  They were thinking he wasn't going to survive, but as of this afternoon he was in stable condition.

Pretty big change of life coming up for this guy, if he survives, that happened in the blink of an eye.  :(

Ouch!

How the heck did that lady get into the base if she didn't have a pass?  :ehh:

Because Newbie's group doesnt provide the security.  It's done by some company called "The Military".  Maybe I should send some folks down there to train them. ;)

Ouch, sorry to hear about that.  My condolonces to the injured.  I hope they have a speedy recovery.  And I'm especially sorry for the one who lost a leg, you're right, that will be tough and I wish him the best.

Now, on a non-serious note:

Level w/ us tom, the truck, was it a ford or a dodge?

That's too bad. Couple nice people helping out and what do they get for their troubles...geez. :idontgetit:

Lady on the cell phone should have it shoved up her a**

I hate to hear that.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the injured and their families.   :(

Things like this are one of the many reasons I can't stand people who drive around talking on the phone.  Don't get me wrong, I think cell-phones our great; they're very useful and helpful.  But way too many people worry too much about the phone and not nearly enough about the driving.  This kind of stuff really ticks me off, especially when you consider that most of the time the call wasn't even an important one.

And one more thing, to repeat what someone else said:

How in the heck did she get on base anyway, you'd think it would be even harder than ever to get on base these days.

It was two cars Jon.  Don't know what kind though.  One was so mangled up, I couldn't tell what it was from where we were.

I have no idea how she got on base.  It could be a rumor that she had no pass, but that's what we heard at work.
