Help!! I'm at a loss need a fresh mind

I'll start with the truck description: 2008 GMC 2500hd 6.0 gasser with the 6l90 transmission.

 

the truck has a hard shift from 1 to 2 and from 2 to 3. runs and drives great otherwise. my wife drives it everyday

 

took it to the trans shop they pulled th codes and came up with

 

p0842

p0872

p0989

all of which are transmission pressure switch codes.

 

that shop said that they could only replace the valve body because the switches are integrated into them and cannot be replaced individually. they also recommended that I put a reman transmission in it.

 

I am operating on a limited budget and cannot afford to do either of those at his prices.

 

after a little research I found this part on rockauto which I think will fix it but honestly do not know. ACDELCO Part # 24241890

 

Has anyone ells ran into this issue?

Is this something I can fix from underneath without getting to deep?

Am I even on the right track here

You can change the part but without a GM dealer to program it you won't get far as the transmission control module is part of that control solenoid set and has to be programmed.

 

If the rest of the transmission is undamaged, I'm not sure why they want to put that in it and then sell you a reman. Unless their source for a reman doesn't come with a new TCM/solenoid unit. The GM replacement transmissions are complete.
