Hi, Brand new 2015 Silverado. Tried the key in the drivers door to unlock it and the alarm goes off. What gives I have the key to unlock it. Is that the way it's supposed to be. Seems to me if I was going to use the remote to disable the alarm I would' t use the key to unlock the door.

You have to disable with the fob first.

The keyhole in the drivers door is more of a backup than anything else in modern vehicles. It will get you in the car but it will make a fuss.

Push the button that shows the lock unlocked... It will actually "unlock" the door and disable the alarm through the magic of technology!! :nonod:

HI Does anyone else have chirp sounds? I have this after market alarm on mine and Id like to remove it.. Do the stock alarms make noise/chirps when the buttons are pushed? to lock/unlock etc Oh mine is a 2014 sierra.

Stock alarm does not make a chirp unless you hit it twice in succession to lock. Horn will give a short blast.

If you lock it with the key or by pushing the lock button before closing the door it is not supposed to turn on the alarm.

The alarm is activated by the key fob, so if you use the key fob to lock, use the key fob to unlock.

Lol I always unlock/lock the truck using the fob button. BUT I have used the key to unlock the truck from time to time with no problems with the alarm going off or anything.

I have an extra key on my spare keychain. I though I read that you have 15 seconds or so after unlocking with the key to turn on the ignition before the horn sounds. That is wrong. Horn sounds immediately.

I can turn on the ignition and only get one honk of the horn. Oh well, the non-fob key is only for emergencies.

You don't need a spare key just unlock with the app

Hello I am experiencing the same and it is quite frustrating. 2015 GMC Sierra. Wife is daily driver and has fob with key, I have factory key only.

When I use truck I use my key only. When I exit truck I lock using door lock button. When I unlock the truck with my key the alarm sounds and lights immediately until I manage to put the key in ignition and turn to accessory.

I am unable to find how to change this behavior. Truck settings in dash do not appear to provide a option to adjust.

Anyone have any suggestions? I do not carry or have second fob. Don't want one.

Cburton as mentioned above use the free on star app. It will work for 5 years at no additional charge. I use mine at work or when shopping if it is cold to remote start the truck. That way i don't have to wait till I'm 100' from the truck. It's also nice if you lock the keys in, or someone needs in your truck and they don't know where the spare key is ie. Wife wants my phone charger or somthing out of the console. She can call amd i don't have to run outside at work just tap the button and she do whatever.

Why not buy another remote for about 30 bucks on ebay?
