Transmission Cooling Line Weeping, TSB or Letter from GM ?

My Dad , being under Hospice Care, hasn't driven his 2010 Silverado 4X4 in ages. So he tells me to take it and use it instead of it sitting in the driveway. Well, while parked at my house I noticed drops of oil on the asphalt near the front end of the truck. Got a chance to put it up on the lift here at work and came across the dreaded Trans Cooling Line leak / weeping where the rubber hose is crimped.the truck has less then 32,000 miles on it. I read all of the posts here and other places pertaining to the matter. Now here is my question ..................... After i took the truck off the lift I was telling my co-worker what I found. He's the owner of a 08 GMC 2500 HD ,DuraMax with the Allison Trans. He says that he got a letter from GM claiming they are aware of the problem and that they will replace the leaking lines up to 150,000 miles on the vehicle. Has anyone else gotten a letter like this ? If this in fact is the case, how do i go about obtaining this letter so I can take the truck to the dealer for a replacement ?

Now on to my soapbox..........................WTF is wrong with GM, Brake lines rusting out, Tranny Lines leaking, and lord know what else and they acknowledge they have a problem and won't do a damn thing about it?

Last summer I replaced all of my brake lines with SS on my 03 Silverado because the rear feed line blew out on me !

I never got one for my 2004 Silverado, I had to replace the lines on that.

Never received any letter. I had this issue repaired under warranty on my 2010

I'm just wondering if the so called letter pertains to DuraMax / Allison equipped trucks only ?

Anyway, My co-worker said he'll check the letter when he gets home and he'll send a picture of the letter to me. I'll post it here if it pertains to all GM trucks

TSBs are for a tech to repair a common issue , it's not for a veh owner , a campaign is for a safety concern

 

Tranny cooler lines seaping is not a danger to the public therefor not a campaign ,

 

The letter for the Alison cooler lines is an extension of the base warranty called a "special policy " and is not likely applicable to you as you may have a gasser engine which doesn't have the Allison behind it ,

 

You're On the east coast and stuff rusts out there .... The brand of veh has nothing to do with it ... Sorry

Often a good hose clamp over the crimp can seal up stuff like this.

People think ultra low miles means like new vehicle and that is very wrong, sitting unused is very hard on vehicles.

Screw GM and screw the Stealerships with their over priced parts and repairs.......Fix my Dads Silverado tonight here at work. Thank God for the triple bay gargae, lift, tools etc,etc. Cut both lines below the crimped fitting, put a bubble flare at each end, slide 3/8th OD Transmission Hose over the flared end about an inch and a half and double clamped each end using HD Fuel type screw clamps . Ran the truck on the lift for 20 minutes to monitor for leaks...there was none.

JOB DONE and it cost pennies compared to what the Stealership would charge !

 

Oh, and BTW Rob, My co-worker contacted me....the letter he got from GM for the "extension of the base warranty called a "special policy " was for DuraMax trucks equipped with Allison Transmissions.....which is what I figured and you pointed out.
