Radar detector power source

In Texas, I've only seen one LEO using a laser.

State troopers religiously use KA band detectors here and local LEOs use K band detectors.

A laser jammer like a Redline & a Valentine 1 would work perfectly paired together like many people do.

Can you give us more info on your truck?

Do you have the auto-dimming feature for your rearview mirror? Do you have lane departure warning system?

If you have the auto-dim feature, you can use the exact pins I used to connect....which hot is the the top row second from the far left....ground is bottom row to the furthest right.

I didn't test for voltage, I just researched here for what other guys did with my system and it worked!

Let me know if this helps.

Ok, don't want to derail the thread. All laser practically in Fl. Hardly any Kband around here anymore,

Not busting on anyone here but I'm surprised that people still use radar detectors these days. With all the high tech Laser and other speed tracking devices LEO's use, by the time your detector picks up the signal, they have had your speed already for a couple of seconds. The days of constant running radar waves is a thing of the past.

On this track... Waze App on a mounted phone is my preference as for populated areas... Haven't used Radar/Laser Detectors really for years so I can't speak to the comparison but Waze also warns of traffic, potholes, debris on road, and a bunch of other stuff and it's reported by other users on the road.

My X50 is hardwired using an Invisicord into one of the plugs behind the overhead console.

I use the power source for the passenger seat belt sign in the over head console. Not sure what wire colors I used. I tested them with a volt meter and seen which wires had power with the key on.

as a LEO I can assure you most of these are a big waste of money. I couldn't tell you how many people I have stopped who have radar and we have there speed well before that picks it up. especially highway if that has our radar we already have your speed, IMO these have been useless the past 7-10yrs but to each there own.

My Valentine V1 has saved me plenty of times. It goes off with plenty of time to slow down, when they use KA or K band radar. only way Im screwed is if they use laser, in that case no detector is fast enough.

The key is making sure you have traffic in front of you (rabbit)

Once a LEO hit someone with Radar 1 mile plus down the road, the V1 will alert and thus you slow down.

If you are the only one on the interstate and you are driving 20 plus over in the fast lane, then yes the LEO will get you etc...

You have to be smart about it etc...

Can anyone direct me to information on doing a wire tap at the mirror power source on a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500?

And I couldn't tell you how many cops I have been alerted to and slowed down before passing. It has helped me out many times. Maybe you just don't stop the ones with common sense and a decent radar detector?

My detector picks up popo long before line of sight most of the time so there is no "see me before I see you". Nice try on the misinformation though.

No nerve. I just don't like when people spout misinformation acting like they know what they are talking about.

Yeah, that's completely false. I've used one for the past 18 years and it still saves me from tickets. Add in Waze and I've got a pretty good defense running for me. If you understood how radar and laser work, you would understand that radar, and laser to a much smaller extent, spread out as they travel. LE maybe targeting a vehicle ahead of you and now you have been alerted. Nothing is fool proof but detectors are still incredibly useful.

But yeah, you do you.

I have a Cobra I've been using for years and I feel it's caught a cop or 2 well before I could see them..

What I don't like is (when I'm city driving) my old Cobra goes off whenever I pass a newer high end car... They pack so much surrounding sensors now - it triggers mine to go off.

Regardless - I think its more comfort having it in front of my vision.
