Falken Wildpeak AT tires?

These tires were recommended to me. I have no experience with them. I usually run BFG AT's or Toyo AT's. I had planned to buy some BFG KO2's, or Toyo's, but the guy I am getting wheels / tires from suggested these. Said they have a better ride, wear longer, and don't grab rocks like the BFG's do. I'll be sticking with OEM tire size. 275/55/20.

I've had these tires on my past trucks. They do have fairly good treadwear life (35000-40000 hard) for what I used them for. I've had both 295/70/R17 and 285/75/R16, both 10 ply, and they will ride fairly harsh. Other than that, all around traction, but avoid deep mud as with any A/T tire. Keep them rotated otherwise they will wear quicker. For the price though they are an OK tire in my book.

I have these in a 305/55/20. They were previously on my Tundra and are now on my Sierra. In total, the Falken's have roughly 60 000Km's on them...I just had my Sierra in to get it's first oil change, the reports had the tire wear listed at 12/32's remaining.

These tires wear extremely well and are super quiet especially on the highways. For that reason, I would buy them again. However, they are 10 ply and they are heavy which is why I was leaning towards some Nitto Terra Grappler G2's in a 4 ply next time around. That being said, the Falken's are relatively cheap if you shop around. Really hard to beat the price on them for what you get.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input.

The biggest selling point to me, was this fella telling me the ride quality is better than the Toyo or BFG's. I'm not all that concerned over tread life, as I run winter tires, and usually buy a new truck about every three years...

He also told me I could go with an E rated, or LT tire. The LT is 6 ply.

Not sure about the Falken but LT tires come in C, D, or E range. They are 6,8, or 10 ply.

That's good to know... I just dumped a 3/4 ton with E rated tires cause the ride was friggin killing me. Which is why I opted for the denial with mag ride, and why I'm not going with 22" tires. :)

This is what the invoice description says....

Falken 275/55R20 Wildpeak A/T C-6 Performance Radial Tire.

That should be the 6ply I think. They shouldn't ride much different than the stock 4 ply. Let us know what you think og them after a few miles.

Will do! It'll probably be a couple weeks. I also ordered a shell from the same shop, and it's a couple weeks out yet.

I also changed my order to 275/60/20s.... Gunna see if they fit without levelling the front. If they rub, I have some spacers to play around with.

I have a friend that is running 2 sets, one on a Sierra and one on a Yukon. He seems to like them a lot except in mud, but they do well according to him in snow, ice and mild off road driving.
