SierraBrad Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Looking for pics of a 2015 Sierra Stone Blue All Terrain with either a Chrome or smoke hood deflector. Trying to decide between the 2 looks.
cev103 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Have you ever considered paint protection film instead? If your primarily going for protection over aesthetics try looking at paint protection film. I personally don't like the look of bug deflectors over stock look but wanted protection from paint dings so I had some Lumar Paint Protection film put on the front portion of my hood and I couldn't be more please with how it looks. I also had the entire painted front grill and valance of my wife's Tahoe done. https://northamerica.llumar.com/choose-a-product/automotive-window-films/automotive-paint-protection-film
Chadwilliam1 Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I would like to see some pictures too. I like the looks of them on some trucks but I plan to go with the 3m film.
BigBadSierra Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Here it is with smoked Windows channels I changed them out at they stuck to the windows and would click when the windows closed.

Very interested in this route. What kinda cost is involved here? I see you are on the job? Where abouts, I am 12yrs with IAFF 1053. Thanks for the info

Where abouts, I am 12yrs with IAFF 1053. Thanks for the info. The only downside to the Lumar paint protection is that it is pricey. I paid $200 just for the partial hood protection which is around 9 inches long from the front edge of the hood and runs the entire width of the hood. For my wife's Tahoe, it cost $500 to to do the first 9 inches of the hood, the grill and the entire lower valance. The main reason it cost a lot is the labor to install. The nice thing is that they have patterns for each vehicle and it is cut out by a computer so the cuts are nice and clean and precise. I know someone mention 3M film, but IMHO I think the newest version of Lumar is far superior...... it's a little thicker, very smooth (not orange peel) and it also has "self healing" abilities so if you do get some light or minor scratching just pour some hot water on it and the scratches will disappear. I will try to snap some pics later. I'm on the job in Portland, Maine..... Local 740

swaptrex14 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 who installed that hood shield? looks way off (slanted to the d/s), I would take it back and demand they put a new one on. although it could be lighting of the photo, but looks otherwise. I've installed hundreds and that would be unacceptable by most of my customers.
cev103 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Trust me, I paid good money to have this done, I would not have left the installers if it looked like crap. There's nothing wrong with the install, the pattern is designed to slant back towards both the drivers side as well as the passengers side......it is symmetrical on both sides, not a straight line across the hood.
