Reaction time (RT) is how long it takes to wake up, (time it takes from green light till you finally hit the throttle and start moving) ET is how fast the car went after you finally woke up. Reaction time IS NOT part of your ET.

30 years of Racing and only going to one track.... With that concept I have been having sex 45 years so that makes me a porn star? Pfffft, I still think the female orgasm is a myth.

"The time starts when you break the beam at the drag strip.

The difference in time when the light turns green and you break the beam is your reaction time."

Well said. That's the way it works at every Dragstrip I have been to.

But, the race against the car in the other lane does start when that light turns green so you better have a good reaction time.

Looks like I am wrong. In all the years I have been racing, I have never once even thought about it until this thread. It makes sense that you would break the beam to start the clock. I am not sure what I was thinking.

Ran my 2003 reg cab at NED way back. 4.8 V8. 16.6@86. One of the runs I somehow got like a .020 RT. I was impressed with myself. Haha

Best for my tuned '13 5.3 4x4 extended cab is 15.5@90mph with my rotund 300lb ass behind the wheel, and a full tank of fuel. Those are good times for a 6.
