I've considered ponying up the $15/month for a local (ish) car wash to be able to do this but:

A) On nice days, there is NO WAY that I will wait in that stupid line, wasting $3 worth of gas, for them to half-heartedly wash my truck with a "touchless" wash system. And, I won't use the ones that actually contact the paint.

B) There's WAY too much road distance between my house and the car wash to wash it there and Z8 it at home.

C) I would consider a manual car wash, but on nice days the people behind me don't appreciate me pulling out a wash bucket. :)

So, looks like I'm relegated to washing and drying at home - hour's work.

An hour is not bad if you're young. I used to wash all 3 vehicles every week, by hand. Retired, got busy with 6 grandkids, got a little lazy... :nonod: ... So the drive-thru works for me. Never a line and only a mile from my house. Can't beat it for $19 a month.

For me, the line is the death nell. When the weather is nice during the warm weather, there are never less than a dozen cars deep in line. The weather clears after the snow has fallen, that line length is double. There's just no way I'm waiting in a line like that.

I agree. There are about 4 auto-washes here in my town. Three are right on the main roads. The one that's only a mile from me, is not only close, but it's off the beaten path. Not that many people are willing to drive a couple blocks off the main road. They'd rather wait in those lines that wrap around the corner!

For me it's perfect. I've never had to wait for more than one car in two years. (Being retired helps. I can go whenever I want... not prime time.) :P
