Saying we need to force recruiters to dress in civilian formal wear is insane. The government needs to do a better job watching foreigners. Especially ones who make trips to terrorist-friendly nations like this turd.

At least he's dead. I hate when these people are taken alive.

Why do forward military advisers in the AO look like the local population. One reason is it lowers their profile and increases their survivability. A recruiter wearing business casual attire in the US would lower their profile. I am talking about surviving here, not about looking good. Back in 2012 there were 300 million foreigners in the US, even a Dem in office, the government ain't that big.

Military folks may dress like locals when deployed because they are in a hostile environment. America shouldn't be one. And the Feds could easily keep tabs on people who visit/return from hostile countries. And there sure as hell aren't 300 million foreigners here.

I was in the military during Vietnam, the Cold War, and Desert Storm. I know death and destruction on a major scale and my comments are current. Are you speaking from a position of current experience?

You could probably Google the foreigner numbers, it's actually more today but what I posted is a good reference point.

Soldiers should blend if situation insists In a combat environment not in their own country. Security is a perception anyways not necessarily reality. If soldiers were allowed to carry concealed and the world knew that then they would be hesitant to attack a service member because of possible retaliation. Some critics insist that the reason soldiers aren't allowed to carry concealed is due to " hot head youngsters" and they believe that soldiers would do more harm than good ie. More shootings on installations. That theory is crap, those same soldiers already carry their pistols out of uniform and do the right thing. Also civilians all around the U.S. Are carrying concealed and their states trust them and for a very good reason. The towns across America are not the Wild Wild West as some critics would have you believe.

They should not be forced to carry a Duty weapon. I said concealed carry with legal concealed carry permits. I dare say more than half of soldiers already legally concealed carry and if given the legal option just might be more than happy to continue while in uniform. People suggesting a staff NCO or officer be issued a duty weapon only adds another duty roster to a already maxed unit commitment.

Meant to add this to my reply to your previous comment, but I provide oversight for 1500 security force members authorized deadly force, security as I know it is a reality, not a perception. These guys will drop a person real quick.

Any weapon a military member carries while performing official duties would be considered a duty weapon, concealed or not. Like I said, it's really complicated and their has to be special circumstances.

Point taken. Although what I imply is giving service members the same right that other Americans have which is the ability to carry their personally owned weapon legally. Whether or not they chose to utilize that right would be up to them. In areas where criminals know that they may encounter a armed citizenn they are less likely to proceed with the criminal act due to the unknown. I understand the complications of having soldiers armed officially abs the laws governing it. That is why I only suggest allowing the soldier to legally carry the same as their civilian counterpart.

There has been inconsistent movement throughout the years, just not fast enough for the military to keep up with the times (I operate from the tip of the spear). "Lone Wolves" are dictating the military fight like they train, smart.

Just found out that the guy that killed our soldiers used to go to the same shooting range I go to up on the mountain. I think about how many times at the range , when the range goes safe how I would lock the bolt open on my AR10 to let it cool off and walk down range 100 yards to change or check targets and think someone like that could still be up on the other end. Ive been cautious before when there have been only one or two people there due to stories about guys getting robbed of guns. Guess I won't be doing that any longer.

That is a scary thought and I always keep in mind that as our country changes and continues to forget our morals the crazy people continue to multiply while most people pretend it isn't happening. You know political correctness is the new American way.

No military experience but what you describe special forces and other small groups doing to blend in when deployed is common knowledge (or at least it is to nerds like me who read too much). They have to do that because their life is on the line, surrounded by hostile people in a place where exfiltration is not an option. They shouldn't have to operate like that here.

As for numbers, the population is like 330 million. To claim the bulk of that or even visitors not counted in the census is close to 300 million seems unlikely.

Per the title of the thread, you don’t have to be in a hostile environment for a military person’s life to be on the line, terrorism is terrorism. The Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staffs has to keep up and adjust to the threat regardless if it’s in SW Asia or here at home. The different military components are not consistent when it comes to this. For example, the Marines doesn’t wear their service uniform off base for unofficial business whereas the Air Force doesn’t have that policy.

The recruiter process requires a rethink, a Lone Wolf is an extremely hard target. Plain clothes for recruiters confuses the fight and would harden them as a target. To remain the best military in the world requires we adapt to overcome, we have to operate smartly.

These people aren't that hard to track, or at least they shouldn't be. This guy was foreign-born and traveled to one of the Middle East shit holes. That should've been a giant red flag that sends resources after him. And I fail to see how getting recruiters into civilian clothing helps on-site. Military men and women are generally easy to spot, regardless of if they're in uniform or just out for dinner. It's a useless knee jerk reaction which is all this administration is good for. If a shooter walks into a recruiting center and he sees it filled with suits instead of uniforms he'll still open fire and be successful since our military men and women can't protect themselves.

    • Fred was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young pullets, and ten roosters to fertilize the eggs He kept records, and any rooster not performing went into the soup pot and was replaced. This took a lot of time, so he bought some tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone, so he could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing. Now, he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to the bells. Fred's favourite rooster, old Butch, was a very fine specimen, but this morning he noticed old Butch's bell hadn't rung at all! When he went to investigate, he saw the other roosters were busy chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing, but the pullets, hearing the roosters coming, would run for cover. To Fred's amazement, old Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't ring. He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one. Fred was so proud of old Butch, he entered him in the City Show and he became an overnight sensation among the judges. The result was the judges not only awarded old Butch the "No Bell Piece Prize," but they also awarded him the "Pulletsurprise" as well. Clearly old Butch was a politician in the making. Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the unsuspecting populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention. Vote carefully in the next election, you can't always hear the bells.
    • Can someone confirm if the GM order workbench terminal is able to validate a custom build sequence:   1) Initialize the Allocation Base: Open a new vehicle build queue, select the 2026 Chevrolet Suburban 4WD, and pick the High Country (3LZ Preferred Equipment Group).   2) Select the Diesel Powertrain: Go directly to the engine configuration screen and choose RPO code LZ0 (3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel). Ensure it maps to the MHS 10-speed automatic transmission.   3) Deploy the Seating Swap: Navigate to the Interior Options screen and enter RPO code ATT to replace the standard captain's chairs with the power-release 60/40 bench seat. Because you are not trying to force a separate luxury or air-suspension bundle, the standard, premium D07 Fixed Floor Console remains active. The system will accept this change immediately without triggering a warning message.   3)Apply Heavy-Duty Hauling Capability: Input RPO code NHT (Max Trailering Package). The commercial terminal will automatically bundle the required trailering hardware and software modules to support the diesel engine's maximum towing capacity.   5) Layer the Premium Tech and Glass: Separately add code C3U (Panoramic Power Sunroof) and code UKL (Super Cruise) to the order screen.   6) Run the Final Validation: Click the "Validate Order" button at the bottom of the interface.
    • Spent the last hour or 2 googling and reading up on the spacer thing. I don't like the loss of thread contact on the slip on spacers, but it appears you can get "extended" lug nuts that reach into the hole of the wheel to get back the lost threads. Looks like the only true hubcentric slip on spacers are at least .375". I'd want as little as I could get away with and don't want to cause other clearance issues going any thicker. Bora seems to offer what appears to be a well made .375" spacer and extended lug nuts. I searched here and did find a couple threads recommending Bora. But not cheap. By the time I buy spacers and lugs, new TPMS sensors, then pay a tire shop to install the new sensors, I suspect I'm going to be in over $400. Thinking about running out and getting some washers to put behind the wheel to see if .375" is enough to clear calipers, turn lock to lock without rubbing, and to see if the wheels/tires look strange pushed out a little. This would just be to check fitment.
    • Roadmaster makes some quality parts; I have their sway bar. I considered the RAS, but I ended up bagging. I didn't know what kind of ride I'd get with RAS, and the bags have interior jounce bumpers, so I can run 0 pounds pressure. I figured I'd have the best of normal suspension ride with assist on-demand. But it seems you got pretty much the same in one item.
