Grill above drivers head

I have an '03 Suburban LT with all the goodies and noticed a grill in the headliner above my left ear.  Does anyone have any idea of its purpose?

Thanks

That I think would be for your onstar system.

 Yes, this is the microphone for your onstart system.  The person's voice you would be talking to will come out of the stereo speakers.

Then what is the black microphone up on the side of the overhead console?

My 2003 has both the black mike by the console, and the small speaker-like grill in the headliner above my head.  My 2001 has just the black microphone at the overhead console.

The grill in question looks just like the two Bose tweeter speaker grills on the windshield columns.

The small speaker looking grill above your left ear is for the Auto-climate control if you have it.  From your description the vehicle is loaded so that's my guess.  I have the same thing without the OnStar so I know that's what it's for.

It's the intake for the auto climate control system.  There is a small sucking fan in there  ... some ppl have said theirs has started buzzing and had to get it changed out (bearing noise?).

How much to change it out?

I had the one in my truck replaced within the first year. The buzzing was driving me nuts....of course it started when I was on a road trip.

And as per previous posts, it is for the climate control.
