That's true, but I don't have any ramps and I've always used jacks and jackstands.

Also can't rotate tires on ramps. And I believe they put out a tsb stating to only fill with 8 quarts now

That is correct...there was a revision in December 2014...when changing oil and filter, now use 8 quarts. Had mine changed Friday to Mobil 1 and ACDelco PF63 filter. 8 quarts shows full on dip stick.

I like to be different ! I'm only going with six quarts and 5w-30w.

It will be mobile 1 though.

They recommend 8 quarts because the PCV sucks down 2 quarts between oil changes it seems

Mine still needs 8.5 quarts to hit the full line. Tried 8 and still had to add the other half quart. I'm near 36,000 miles and have no oil consumption issues.

 

There should be plenty of clearance to change your oil without having to jack the truck up.

5 qt jug Mobil 1 0-20 EP $25.ea and just bought a case of AC PF-63 filters from walmart at $3.00 each.

I can slide under, but if doing it warm I don't like to have the hot exhaust right by my face Lol. Plus I rotate the tires when I change my oil. That's interesting that yours still takes 8.5 qts, I may drain out half a quart and see how it reads.

If you're also rotating tires then I understand your need to jack up the truck. I place my front jack stands under the frame rails behind the front wheels. Rears under the rear axle.

In the front where do you jack from? And do you happen know where you can see the revisions people are talking about?

I don't jack it from the front as I could not find a suitable spot. I jack it near the center of the frame rail at the cross member high enough to get a jack under it closer to the front wheel.

And then after I have the front two jacks in place, I put the jack under the pumpkin and jack the rear end high enough to slip both rears in place... but you probably already do it that way.
