Shake vibe solution advice

Hello all,

I have a 2014 Silverado Rally II with 19k miles. I've been dealing with the problem for many months and numerous trips to the dealer. No dealer solutions or repairs, just the typical run around. I think I finally solved my violent shake issue once and for all.

I've read through most all posts and found some very helpful info and figured I would share some info to help others.

THE KEY POINT I MAKE IS DON'T THINK ONE ISSUE WILL SOLVE THE SHAKING!!

The following were done over a three month period after I gave up on the dealer. Five trips to the dealer with no improvement.

Loose shock tower bolts - Bolts were not even hand tight. tightened and improved the clunking

Dead right front shock - front shock had about 2.5" of drop with little to no resistance. Replaced shocks and found a slight improvement

Engine oil level high - Dealer used 8.5 quarts. Drained oil and filled with 8 quarts per the TSB.. reduced the acceleration vibe.

Balance- Road force balance help a bit

Tire pressure - Tried all sorts of pressures and found that dead on 35psi cold was the best.

Front sway bar loose - torqued to spec and found a slight improvement

Rotated tires - back to front make a big difference. Not sure if it was the rim hub mounting below.

Hub centric rims - took great care to make sure the rims were mounted properly. I think they were not seated right. Big improvement.

Rear leaf clamps - Just installed almost got rid of the shake all together. Big difference.

Bottom line is don't rely on a dealer. If you have a bit of mechanical ability, try any or all the items above to see if you can fix it on your own.

Good to hear you found success in multiple areas to solve most of your vibes! I had slight vibration at 70mph+ and the dealer re-balancing got rid of most of it but they had to put a lot of weight on, even double stacking some of the stick on weights. Hearing about all the bolts that were loose on yours has me wanting to check all of mine.

Where did you clamp the rear leaf springs in front or rear of the axle and how many inches from axle.

Thanks.

I did a similar mod. I clamped mine in front of the axle about 5". Helped a lot with noisy leaf springs, and helps with axle wrap.

I clamped mine 6 inches in front of rear axle. Tightened only to the point where the top two springs come together, not to the point where the overload (bottom) spring is clamped all the way. I had to go 6 inches out from to prevent interference with magna ride sensors since mine is a Denali.

Clamps made significant improvement. Still a little front vibe, but 80% + improvement with rear clamps.

I had already had alignment, balance and body mount adjustment with little to no improvement.

Most have been buying at discount auto parts stores. Around 20 bucks.

I clamped my leaf springs today 5 1/2 inch in front of the axle not from the blocks. The first thing I noticed was it rode better don't know why but it does for sure. I drove where I do all the time and had to go back 2 more times just to see, even the expansion joints in town driving 15 to 20mphs where before were ruff as hell are at least half that now. I carry about 350 to 400 lbs all the time so not sure how it will effect a truck with no weight in the bed. All I can think is it effects the spring rate some how. I'am really amazed at how it helped the ride.

I might try this before buying new leaf set. My rides bouncy since loading it a few times. Especially on expansion cracks in our concrete hwys.

Did mine. Helped with clunks in rear but stiffer ride. U bolts tightened also.
