typhl Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I have a 02 gmc sierra 1500 4x4. Last weekend took all tires off and brakes, because of brakes sticking. Cleaned and re greased all slider pins and checked pads. also replaced both front calipers. Now the only one still sticking is my front passenger brake. I can bleed that caliper and it be good all day. but come morning time i have to re bleed or it will completely lock the truck down. Any ideas?
BlackZ71Silverado Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Have you tested to make sure the pistons in the caliper are working properly? Sounds like you have one that needs to be replaced due to a failed piston. That would explain the brake locking up on only one wheel. Sent from my crappy iPhone 6 using Tapatalk

"also replaced both front calipers" So your saying a new caliper is doing what the old caliper did? Could that be the ABS sending fluid there?
patriot Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Pull the ABS fuse and see if it still does it. You'll still have brakes, just no anti-lock. If it stops locking up, you have an ABS problem.

typhl Posted August 1, 2015 Author Posted August 1, 2015 I bought the truck in Alabama and had the truck there for about three years and in December moved to nd where it snows a lot. I pulled my abs fuse when I lived in Alabama because after changing a cv axel the abs was kicking on which was making it to where my truck wouldn't stop. Now I was having brake troubles before and when I did all the work to my brakes and replaced both calipers I also put in the abs fuse to see what it would do cause I need my abs system for whenever it snows. Didn't have any problems with the abs kicking on but I'm still having the problem with the front passenger caliper sticking. I'll pull it and see what it does tho.
Duelin Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Have you tried to open the bleeder when the caliper is sticking? If so what happens? Could be a bad brake hose that is collapsing inside its self and not allowing the brake fluid return. And keeping pressure on the pistons.

When it does start sticking I can bleed it and it will be good for the rest of the day but then the next morning it will start sticking again.

They swell up inside and won't allow pressure to release. MJT
typhl Posted August 2, 2015 Author Posted August 2, 2015 Thanks everyone I'm gonna try to get a new hose today and get it on and I'll let yall know how it goes. First thing I gotta do today is change out both knock sensors. Oh ya tons of fun right.
typhl Posted August 6, 2015 Author Posted August 6, 2015 Replaced brake line and re bled, and pulled abs fuse. Front passenger still messing up. Anymore ideas? Open to almost anything at this point.
typhl Posted August 6, 2015 Author Posted August 6, 2015 Could it be something with the master cylinder not retracting the fluid?
Green 1364 Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 I'm wondering if it's something in the distribution block, 0n my 2002 it was on the frame under the driver seat. Maybe try to get info on that. Watch this video, maybe you have a plunger sticking... !
