I don't think the overlays can be compared, grille came in today and put it on as soon as I could. Love the look so much better!

Man you have he same color truck as me, and I have fo agree that grille looks way better. I'd like to get one, but I need to find one and I don't know how comfortable I feel tackling this by myself.

Theyre really easy to install, not much to it. Theres a how to thread on how to remove your grille somewhere on the forum, dont waste the money having a shop install!

So easy 12 push pins, 8 10mm bolts, and 4 7mm bolts to remove.Took an hour really, I spent another hour cleaning dirt, radiator bugs, leaves etc. if I was closer I'd help you out sure someone local would.

Wanted to tempt you a little more, plasti dip emblems today, that and the grille totally changes the truck. Got the grille from Rydell Surplus.

Nice looking grill. I didn't realize the High Country had no emblem in front. My LTZ has the Z71 logo in bottom right corner. Do you have a picture of how it looked before that you can post to show side by side?

Also, did yours come with the black bowtie? or did you add those?

This is closest I've got, the emblem is just stick one with 3 coats of black plasti dip and 3 coats of glossifier.

I have the same color truck but mine is an LT. I want to plasti dip the emblems black too, def like the look of the black blow tie. Plasti-dipped one wheel today but didn't turn out well. Came out textured for some reason so I pulled it off, and will try again another day.

My only experience with plasti-dip is the spray version and it came out pretty nice for the limited area I used it on. So, unfortunately I won't be able to help in that regard. I can only guess that the wheel had some contaminant or the temperature wasn't good for it. I cleaned the item I used the dip on with 90% rubbing alcohol first is the only real prep that I did. The nice thing is it just pulls off though like you said.

 

As for the emblems, I like the black look. I think I might go red with mine however. I really like the way the red ones look on the Rocky Ridge Callaway Silverado.

Doesn't look like they have anymore in for the time being. I am absolutely going to get one whenever they get some more. Keeping the honeycomb grille clean is a PITA!

      2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.

      Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉

      Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.

      To me it honestly makes zero difference what filter you run. It's not a race engine, just a truck engine that's mostly bumming highways and it just needs a filter that filters oil.   The filter used to be a 7060 and the long version was a 7045. Now it's the newer updated filter that the K2XX trucks and newer run, the 100255 I believe if we are using napa numbers. Any of those filters is going to do the job.   I wouldn't overthink it, to me it makes no difference because those first filter numbers worked for 18+ years before the spec suddenly changed.
