How is the beam pattern on the 2016 HD w/HID (any pics)? I have the Morimoto HID in my 2015 Sierra 1500 but am not happy with the beam pattern.

The pattern is great. I'll snap a pic when I get a chance.

So after purchasing my new to me GMC 2500 4400 miles on it last week I discovered the very first night out I couldn't see a darn thing. After a couple quick searches I found this forum. I would like to thank all of the members for all that I have been able to read about these trucks in the last week. I was on a different diesel specific website for my last 2500. Now to the point. I took my truck in the the local dealer and asked them about this repair. Obviously, they said they never heard of it. I told them to reference PIT5374, PIT5374A or PIT5364B, and they said it didn't exist. So on my way out of the door that night I said it would be a bad deal for me and my family if someone was to get injured by taking a deer through the window down the dark deer crazy road I drive every night because I couldn't see 50' in front of my truck. So oddly enough, while waiting for my paper work somebody found the bulletin. I showed up the next day and they said they had no bulbs but could reprogram the BCM. I was cool with that. So while I was waiting for the paperwork after the reprogram the tech somehow found the bulbs. So I was more than happy to wait another hour for the bulbs to be installed. Night comes quickly, and all I can say is wow!! It was like somebody flipped a switch and gave me the gift of light. I shared my little story to let others know that a little persistance pays off sometimes, not always.

Thanks for the update on your lights...I will be doing the same on my GMC 2500 SLT on Tuesday when they do the second free oil change. 4000 miles on it in a year and will never put the miles on so they just change it out every 6 months. Can't wait to see the results of the flash and bulb update.

Anyone have any info on the 2016 2500/3500HD Sierra Denali HID headlight part number set up? Quite obvious they are HID. Saw one last week myself. Would like to know the cost of the GM parts to install on my 2015.5.

$1160.83...EACH. Headlamp wiring harness is different, BCM as well.

Was at the dealer today and they will update the headlights with new bulbs and flash the voltage to 14... They are out of the bulbs in our part of the state {they have one} so they have to wait till they get more made. Will keep updating as they do it.

Keep us updated. I will like to hear you feedback on the upgrade. IMO it becomes so bright there is no need to do anything else. My buddies run all kinds of setups, and this seems to be just as bright as any of theirs.

I also did the the gm update and found only a slight improvement but no where near sufficient so i upgraded to the Xenon Depot LED head lamp kits and found that they did help quite a bit but again the problem seems to lie in the reflectors design. My 01 Sierra work truck's stock head lamps are still much better than than my 2015's.

Has anyone tried any after market head lamp housings to see if their designs are better the the stock head lamps? I see Anzo, Spyder and Recon all have replacement housings out now and 2 of them have a dual bulb set up. Maybe these are worth a try?

Now to only figure out why my headlamps randomly stop working for me. I guess out come the LED kits to see if that makes a difference.

Should've bought a Silverado.

Mine was serviced with new bulbs, bcm flashed, and realignment within an hour. Quite a bit better than stock. Bulbs were ordered an in within a week too. Glad my dealership isn't like some I've seen on here. They actually care about their GM customers..

I wonder if they do all of these the same? I will need to take a pic next time I have my truck out at night. Mine are crazy bright. Way brighter than my wife's new beemer. Before mine was done I couldn't see anything. It was sketchy to even drive at night.

These headlights on my $65,000 truck suck suck suck. It's only a matter of time before I hit a deer and put my family at risks because I can't see the God damned side of the roads. I put an LED light bar on the bumper but can't use that on public roads. I am beyond pissed about these headlights. I am thinking about trying the Cree led bulb replacements. They are $60 for a pair.

If you want good headlights get the kit from theretrofitsource.

    • Here's a starter kit:    CC Jensen, a Danish oil testing Concern gives us the following guidelines:   ISO 14/12/10 Very Clean Oil ISO 16/14/11 Clean Oil ISO 17/15/12 Lightly Contaminated ISO 19/17/14 New Oil ISO 22/20/17 Very Contaminated and not suitable for any service.   In addition CC Jensen gives a table showing how engine life is increased by cleaning up the oil. For example cleaning the oil from 19/17/14 to 13/11/8 will extend motor life by a factor of 6X.   But even cleaning it two “Life Extension Classes” will double motor life. So perhaps giving those classes would be useful:   21/19/16 20/18/15 19/17/14 18/16/13 17/15/12 16/14/11 15/13/10 14/12/9 13/11/8   *************************************   https://testoil.com/program-management/setting-iso-cleanliness-targets/   Third paragraph from the bottom will give a starting point.    Your next question should be, okay 10um at what Beta ratio and the answer is in the graph Beta 75.   Then the next question is what is your chosen filters profile? (Purolator PL series below) The red dot is Beta 75. This was the information I obtained from MANN a few years ago. So the best filters, Purolator One, AMSOIL EA, FRAM Ultra, Royal Purple, Bosch Premium should get a doubling engine life over filters like Purolator L, any service filter from any quick lube, WIX, NAPA, STP, Mobil 1, Purolator BOSS.    And as noted by CC Jensen a 2-5 micron @ Beta 200 bypass system has the capability of a six fold improvement. AMSOIL has such a system as does Donaldson.       Now having said all that testing is the touchstone. Test the oil NEW and test it with your chosen filter. Then test over milage. Do the work, get the result. But understand this in NOT absolute BECAUSE this is one factor in isolation.   Example:    A valve spring supplier can state that with cam X and a valve train of Y grams the valves will not float to 7K rpm. is that true if the builder choose a system 20 grams over limit? Common sense must be used and limits understood.
    • This doesn't look like a GM truck. Not needed on a HD truck
    • It varies a ton around me. Some places are still at $5.00 or higher and others are way down into the $4's.   Offroad diesel was $4.02 at the one station I passed today.
    • So after reading the reveal from Chevrolet, I kept asking myself...why did the trim levels change?   Here are the official ones:   Work Truck (WT): The quintessential fleet truck, built with durable, easy-to-clean interiors for commercial or utilitarian use. Custom: A stylish, road-oriented trim that adds a more refined appearance, standard dual exhaust, and modern exterior styling. Custom Trail Boss: An entry-level off-roader featuring a 2-inch factory suspension lift and 34-inch mud-terrain tires on a budget. Silverado: Serving as the new base consumer truck (replacing the previous LT trim), it comes standard with the Z71 off-road package when equipped with 4WD. Trail Boss: Steps up the off-road hardware with the 2-inch lift, 34-inch tires, monotube shocks, an exclusive off-road hood, and more premium interior options. ZR2: The flagship off-roader. It boasts 35-inch mud-terrain tires, Multimatic DSSV dampers, front and rear electronic lockers, forged carbon-fiber interior accents, and an available hardcore Bison Edition (co-developed with AEV). High Country: The pinnacle of luxury. It replaces bright chrome with modern satin chrome, 22-inch wheels, premium leather, real wood interior trim, a panoramic sunroof, and an exclusive front-passenger touchscreen. As others have stated, why would you want a Silverado - 'Silverado' - wth?? LT needs to remain!!!   Also, there will no longer be a dedicated Z71 model.  All 4x4 trucks will have the Z71 package. Carplay is also something that cannot be removed.  Hopefully it will remain.     I am excited about the 5.7L V8 (350 C.I.D.)  Old school Chevy power.  My only concern is whatever version of AFM/DFM cylinder deactivation.  Too bad that isn't an option a buyer can choose to have or not.   I will definitely be stopping by my local dealership when these trucks start showing up.
