2016 Pricing

So I am in the market for a 2014+ Sierra Denali sometime before winter hits here in KY. Considering how rare it is to find a 2014 on the lot, and the great pricing I have seen at some dealerships on 2015s (Laura GMC is one example close to me), I pretty much plan on going with a new 2015.

However, with the 2016s coming out sometime soon, I am wondering at what date i wont see the 2015s on the lots any more (for the most part)?

Also, I am wanting a Denali with 6.2, and Im seeing prices around $49k (around $10k off) at Laura GMC. If I was to wait until the 2016's hit their lot, what price would a 2016 with similar features be priced at the same dealer like Laura GMC? Just curious if I should still stick with the idea of the 2015, or maybe just go with the 2016.

Thanks for any info!

There's quite a few differences between the 2015's and 2016's due to the refresh. I was in the same boat as you just over a month ago (right after the 2016 model changes were released) and went with the 2015. It's safe to say at this point you'll get more for your $ by going with a 2015. It may not be about the bottom line in your case, though. Go with what works for you, and best of luck. FWIW I'm absolutely in love with my loaded 2015 Sierra SLT.

I don't have much interest in the 6.2 due to premium fuel, now that it's 40 to 50 cents more per gallon around here. But the 5.3 with an 8 speed / 3.42 sounds like a really nice setup for a mix of power and fuel economy. So for me, 16 is the way to go. Things like Android auto, updated looks definitely help too.

The only downer is it looks like you need a slt or better for the 8 speed and it looks like you can't get flex fuel and an 8 speed (free power boost, adding it after basically voids your warranty)

The 2015's are in build out now and dealer orders ended this week. Orders for most if not all of the discontinued colors stopped 2 weeks ago. So even though there are 6 or 7 weeks of 2015 production left some colors won't be available soon. The Reds, brown and white diamond for example may get hard to find in the coming weeks. So IMO, don't wait too long for a 2015 unless you are flexible on colors.

Great info guys... appreciate it.

Color wise, I am pretty set on black. And Laura GMC usually ALWAYS has 3-5 black ones exactly what I want on lot any time.

Im just wondering when the 2016's come out, how much Laura will take off MSRP. Bc right now the 15's are around $10k off.

I was able to get 11k off MSRP on my SLT in early July before GMC offered the 20% off MSRP. Wouldnt be surprised to see some dealers offer 12-15k off MSRP as the drop date for the 16s get closer.

They are good people to deal with.

Just read elsewhere on this forum that 2016 production begins Oct. 4th.

So add 3-6 weeks to where they are hitting the dealerships with any frequency & you are looking at November time frame.

Would have to guess the deals through Christmas will be on the out going 2015's?

But better warranty on the 2015 5yr/100k miles vs 5yr/60k on the 2016 if that is a concern for you or if you drive more than 12,000 miles per year.

August is typically the best month to buy cars. It is usually when the best rebates come out. When I bought mine just a few weeks ago the 14s that were on the lot were higher priced than a 15 with the same options. The last new car I bought (2007 TBSS) was also in August and I picked that one up for 13K off sticker. The 15 I just bought I got them to 14K off sticker.

The 16s will not be discounted deep until at least 6 months or more. Ask those that bought their 14s within the first 6 months of release. They paid a premium to be some of the first 2K drivers on the road.

IMO I would step up and buy the 15 now. The drivetrain warranty is changing and given the track record of some of the 2K trucks the better warranty is a huge selling point.

You might get lucky and see 2500-4000K off sticker in the first 6 months but you won't see that 10K plus discount for a long while.

The other plus is most of the small recall items will be fixed on your new 15. We don't know what we might see out of the 16s yet. I don't ever buy a car in the first year release. Granted the 16s were a "facelift" you better believe a lot more has changed in the programming, which is always a PITA with updates from the dealer.

Good info guys, appreciate it. I am definitely leaning towards going ahead and going with the '15. Just keeping my eyes open on what is out there, but not in a huge hurry to pull the trigger until maybe Sept/Oct.

I just cant wait to get into one of these trucks! Reading this forum doesnt help. LOL

I have a CCSB with the 6 speed 5.3L and I get 21 on the 400 mile avg

My boss has a CCSB Denali 8 speed 6.2L and he gets slightly better mileage than I do.
