Need Help with Mods

Hello, I'm new to this forum and just recently purchased a 2015 Silverado. I hope this is the right place that die-hard chevy fans can point me into the right direction for some mods. A little background on myself. I'm a Paramedic/Firefighter have been for 14 years now. I recently purchased this truck and my first truck in a few years. So I want to spice it up a bit and I know its probably hard but try to keep it under warranty but don't see that happening.

So here's what I'd like to do:

Add some lift maybe as little as a leveling kit or something maybe 33 tires, Really I'm not very keen on auto lingo and knowing whats out there. I just want the truck to be spiced up a little, look a little meaner/aggressive without really breaking the bank.

Add exhaust Borla Atak Rear exit.

Definitely a Spray in bedliner and some running boards.

If you all could help me out that would be greatly appreciated, post pictures of ideas or something so I can get a idea of what the upgrades would look like.

Also, i heard there are aftermarket parts that have GM approved part numbers that mods can be done and not void the warranty, is that true?

Oh well, hope to hear from you all soon and see what I can get modding.

Thanks,

Medic 7

congrats on the purchase and now the funs begins! MODS!!! I bought my Silverado on 8-1 and have already spent close to $5K on mods. First thing I did was add a Ready Lift Level kit and 305/70/17 (basically 34's) Nitto Grapplers...that alone lifted my truck 4". was parked next to a GMC Sierra 2500 last night and we were just about the same height. I have since added Ionic Voyager Running boards which look exactly like the OEM step. Next was a Undercover Flex Hard Tri-Fold tonneau cover. then I added some things like AVS rain guards...AVS Aeroskin and a couple other other small things.

Here's a great link to mods on this forum...good luck, but get your wallet ready...once you start it's hard to stop!

RC 2.5" Leveling Kit:

Here is a good thread to help you decide on tires/wheels:

I recommend Line-X for the spray-in-liner and AMP Powersteps for running boards:

+1 on the RC 2.5" leveling kit and the Line-X bed liner.

Mine also has the Du-Ha underseat storage, a set of Rigid backup LED lights under the rear bumper, and a Leer 100XQ cap, Weathertec floor mats, window visors and bug deflector.

Next step is either the Diablew tune or a set of Baja Designs S2 lights behind the grill. Getting tired of waiting for a direct replacement for the lights in the bumper.

When the tires need replacement probably going with a set of GY Duratracs 275/65/20 hopefully.

I did the RC 2" kit in my drive way. about half the price compared to the 2.5 kit and theres only a .5 inch difference. plus install is must easier. Exhaust is gonna be subjective to what sound ur looking for. also can be installed urself with the right tools. spray in is a no brainer. protects the bed and easy to maintain with no issues. pricing depends on installer and area. i found prices in my area ranging from $400 to $800. theres a lot of helpful info on this forum u can find to answer prbly all ur question. congrats on the new truck and good luck

When it comes to 'running boards', people seem to be happy with the GM factory options. Both types work well, it will come down to your personal preference for sure. I don't have any but I like the oval ones, they offer more secure footing. I think they look good too, nicer and higher quality than many aftermarket companies.

Bed liner can also be done at/through the dealership. GM does offer a spray in liner, talk to your dealership and see if they do the liners. If they don't, most dealerships have people that do their Line-X, and other brand liners, some actually do the job in house if certified.

Most dealerships also offer leveling kits and will do the install. If not, they also have contracts with installers that will do the work and warranty their work.

When it comes to leveling kits, the RC 2" kit is most popular. The reason it cost much less than the RC2.5" kit is because the 2.5" kit also includes taller rear lift blocks, longer u-bolts, and a top strut spacer. That's where the price difference comes from, not just an extra .5" spacer. Find out what the dealership offers and get their pricing. If they install the leveling kit, they will usually warranty the work as well.

GM offers many 'aftermarket' parts. All part numbers and prices should be available to you through your dealer. All GM accessories should be warranty covered. GM has just about everything from CAI's to cat-backs to simple things like floor mats. Get the accessories catalog from you dealership.

If you are interested in GM Accessories, I have found good deals by searching online using the GM part number. I found my Bowtie Bedrug and GM Borla exhaust from a GM dealer in Louisiana that had much better prices than my local dealer parts dept. with free shipping and no sales taxes. Found my Driver Assist Handle the same way.

Found AMP PowerSteps online, but needed someone to install. AMP referred me to a local truck accessories shop and they beat my online price including the installation. To me, the search is part of the fun finding stuff for mods.

One caution, though, some manufacturers don't support products sold through Amazon and I've been told they don't always have the latest models, so take that for what it is worth...I was kind of bummed a few times, 'cause I like Amazon as a rule. I also found that if you call or chat places like BAK or AutoAnything.com before you order, you can get a bigger discount.

There's all kind of information on this forum to help. To search ALL of the forum threads, click on the Advanced Search wheel at the top right of the page and either search the thread you are in or all forums. There is an amazing amount of stuff on here to sift through from reference material to DIY videos and most likely the question you have, others have had it too (I see a lot of repeat requests for information all of the time).

Hope this helps...LET THE FUN BEGIN!

Just remember one thing.... warranties cannot be voided...period. Read up on the Magnuson Moss act of 1975. Happy Modding!
